Re: Hauptmann Otto Marloh
Assuming this is the same Otto Marloh:
Marloh, Wilhelm Heinrich August Otto
*01.08.1893 in Hildesheim
†20.03.1964 in Hildesheim
16.06.1913 Leutnant mit Patent vom 17.06.1911
18.08.1916 Oberleutnant
He was wounded in 1914 with 1./IR 77 and in 1916 with RIR 260. He was severely wounded in late 1917 and in English captivity, then exchanged in 1918. He is listed as a Hauptmann a.D. in the Ehrenrangliste but as an Oberleutnant a.D. in the interwar Hamburg address books. He may simply have chosen not to go by his "charakter" rank. As a former active officer I assume that would have made him a Hauptmann z.V./Major z.V. in World War II?
His older brother Kurt was also a Leutnant in IR 77 and was killed on 22.8.1914 by Tamines. I would assume the Kurt-Eberhard Marloh who lived at the same address as Otto's widow Johanna in the 1965 Hildesheim address book was Otto's son, named for his brother.
Otto Marloh at the top, with other IR 77 officers in 1914:
