Rittmeister Heino Riechert

Dear Madam/Sir,
I would like to know if anyone has information about this German Wehrmacht
officer, Captain, or possibly Major Heini Riechert. My grandfather had an
important and entirely positive encounter with this German officer in
September 1944 in the village of Partigliano, near Borgo a Mozzano. At the
time, the local population has been locked in the local church as
retaliation for possible partisan action in the vicinity. My grandfather
had spent time in Germany and spoke German well, and was summoned by two
German soldiers at his house. Locals say that my grandfather and the
commanding officer, Rittmeister Riechert, were seen talking to one another
from a distance for a long time, and in the evening the prisoners were all
released with no harm. The event is commemorated yearly in September, and a
stone inscription was placed onsite, but nothing has ever been discovered
about the personality, background, or subsequent life of this German
officer, whose behaviour was humane and honourable. I was told a son
survives, but either sent a message to the wrong email address or or this
person was not related. If anyone can help, I will be very grateful, and it
certainly serves history to remember the name of this officer.
Best regards,
Rolando Ferri
