I'm trying to compile a list of the officers in StB 1923, the first complete StB of the Reichswehr. Naturally, there are still many gaps to fill especially with regard to the lower ranking officers. I begin with A. Who has Vornamen or dates of life?

Leutnant 01.09.15 ACKERMANN (IR 95 --> IR 15) Hauptmann (01.10.29)
Hauptmann 18.04.16 AFHELDT Werner 1887-? (IR 128 --> IR 4) Oberst (01.03.36)
Leutnant 01.10.21 AHRENS (AR 6) Oberleutnant (01.10.26)
Hauptmann 18.04.17 AICHMAYR (FAR 33 --> AR 6)
Oberleutnant 20.05.17 ALBRECHT (FAR 17 --> AR 2)
Hauptmann 08.10.14 ALTHAUS (GR 1 --> RWM / Inspektion für WuG) Oberstleutnant (01.02.30)
Oberleutnant beim Zeugamt 25.02.15 ALTHÖFT (Pr ZeugOffz --> AR 6) Char. Hauptmann
Leutnant 20.10.14 AMBS (RR 17) Oberleutnant (01.05.24)
Leutnant 01.05.22 AMME ?-02.06.1926 (RR 1)
Leutnant 20.10.14 AMOS (AR 7)
Leutnant 01.06.22 ANGER (IR 1)
Hauptmann 24.07.15 ANSCHÜTZ (IR 57 --> IR 16)
Leutnant 01.02.16 ARENDT (IR 146 --> IR 2) Oberleutnant (01.04.25)
Leutnant 01.01.17 ARENDT (IR 148 --> IR 1) Char. Oberleutnant
Leutnant 01.08.18 ARENS (GR 1 --> PiBtl 5) Oberleutnant (01.10.25)
Char. Major 05.02.23 ARNDT (IR 111 --> HFriko) Major (01.02.23)
Oberleutnant 20.06.18 ASTER Rudolf ?-10.07.1927 (SR 108 --> IR 11) Hauptmann (01.03.27)
Leutnant 01.09.15 AUDEBERT (Bay 2. FußAR --> AR 7) Oberleutnant (01.04.25)
Leutnant 01.09.15 AUST (FußAR 6 --> AR 6) Oberleutnant (01.04.25)

I always use the old adress books. Here for example the first man - there was an Hanns Ackermann in Eisenach (8./I.R.15) in 1924, that must be him, With the first name one can mostly find out more. In this case however difficult. There were several Hanns Ackermanns and I dont find any relation to an officer.

Thank you very much!

So Ackermann is SS-Sturmbannführer Dr. Johannes Ackermann (possibly promoted later). He is also listed as Major at BA-MA, so he either got the Charakter when he was retired or he served as z.V.-Offizier in WW2.

I'm reasonably sure about the death date of Kurt Amme because it is had been added in handwriting to the DAL 1926 from NARA.

The last Baumgart is Herbert, Dipl.Ing., transferred to the new Panzertruppe in the early 1930, and fell as Abteilung commander PzRgt.3 in Poland 1939 (28.09.1893-08.09.1939).

Thank you, so he was not retired but in the Soviet Union when he disappeared from the DAL. There may be similar cases.

Another problem may be field officers who ended up in the Luftwaffe.

Indeed. He is listed as a Dipl.Ing. in 3. Art.Rgt. in 1929 and then "dissapeares" until 1934, where he is listed in Kraftfahr-Lehr-Kommando I Zossen.

Thank you, Dave. Do you happen to have the DoB of Werner Afheldt and Ernst Baumgart?

Bachert
-The only Hptm. Bachert in the 1923 Berlin address book was Hermann.

Baeck, Leonhard Georg Richard Ekkehard
*24.08.1881 in Breslau
†04.10.1959 in Hamburg
- He is listed as an Oberstleutnant a.D. at the time of his second marriage in 1932, as an Oberst in his son's HPA file, and as an Oberst a.D. in the 1950s Hamburg address books. I would assume an Oberst z.V.?

Banke, Otto Heinrich Franz
*03.01.1876 in Thorn
†03.06.1949 in Berlin-Friedenau
Oberst a.D.

Bardt, Richard
*02.12.1879 in Frankfurt a.d. Oder

Baumann, Otto Eugen
*25.02.1879 in Neu-Ulm

Obviously they got the Charakter when they retired (just as Baeck, who later got the usual z.V. promotion).

He was killed when his car collided with a railroad engine at Kummersdorf.

The Saxon Hauptmann Otto Bauer was born on 07.11.1886 in Recklinghausen.

The Bavarian Leutnant Otto Bauer was born on 28.05.1896 in Schweinfurt.
Hauptmann 08.11.14 BAUMBACH (FAR 12 --> AR 4) Oberstleutnant (01.03.30)
Baumbach, Paul Walter
*30.03.1882 in Waldenburg, Glauchau
†03.02.1933 in Dresden-Albertstadt
Oberst, Kommandant von Königsbrück
- I assume the promotion to Oberst was between the May 1932 rank list publication and his February 1933 death, but I have not dug through the MWB.
Oberleutnant 18.08.17 BAUMBACH (FußAR 2 --> AR 2) Hauptmann (01.05.25)
Baumbach, Otto Max Wilhelm
*11.01.1892 in Berlin
- He was only in FußAR 2 until early 1915. He spent the bulk of the war as a Marine-Flieger. A 1933 divorce notation in the 1918 Gießen marriage register lists him as a Major a.D.
