Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck
Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck
Anyone know of any books with photos of Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck in continental or tropical uniform. Any info on his being wounded(as a Major in 1941 I believe) would also be appreciated. Thanks, John

Re: Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck
The pictures of Sponeck's arrival in Britain show him as GL, but he is not among the officers who were earmarked for 01.05.1943 GL promotions on 20.04. and 30.04.
Can anybody give the date of his actual promotion?

Re: Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck
Considering that this photo from Sponeck's surrender shows him still as GM, I assume that he was promoted to GL along with his peers as GM from 01.11.1942, Otto Schünemann and Helmuth Beukemann. Beukemann was promoted on 15 May, and it seems obvious that this was also the actual date of Sponeck's promotion, especially if we consider that this also was the actual date of Friedrich von Broich's promotion to GL.

Re: Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck
Hello! my name is William. You don't still happen to be in contact with his son are you? This seems to bizarre to be true , but I promise it is! Two years ago I was at a hostel in Zürich and met a girl from germany. It was his granddaughter! She told me all about her family and the things she knew about about her opa. I have been trying to somehow track her down. No, I am not in love, although she was beautiful and had well er...."massive tracks of land". I am going back to Germany this summer and would love to meet up with her and her family. Thank you for any info.Rigsgreve wrote:I have a copy of Generalleutnant Theodor Graf von Sponeck's unpublished biography, a copy given to me by his son! Herein he relates the incident.
