Thank you very much, Bernd. It is more intriguing than that.

What a complete serendipity!! While looking into v Tippelskirch in Miocid's suggestion in my "Heinrici Entourage" thread, I noticed that Josef Reichert himself was Kmdr of IR6 of 30 Inf Div. I have a lousy picture of the two together. You would think Reichert would just let v Limburg-Hetlingen wear the "6" as they were the "IR 6 mafia" in 711 Div. :P :D

Cheers
Freiherr

Phil,
left is Oberleutnant Egon Mayer , J.G. 2 "Richthofen"

Freiherr,
according lexikon-der-wehrmacht and ABR : Oberst Reichert Kdr IR 6 : 24.11.1938 - 17.09.1941

aha, "6" boys united here, yes :)

so, it is no judging about the case, but : if v. Limburg-Hetlingen was awarded the KC "unofficially", is it on proposal by General Kreysing in april 1945 (family has a copy of a certificate of Kreysing stating that) or is it "13. Verleihung durch General der Gebirgstruppe Konrad im Auftrag der HGr Süd" [Fellgiebel] it would be an understandable procedere to make the Soldbuch entry and the signing by Reichert.. :?

regards, Bernd

Bernd,

The discoloration of the numbers is not uncommon. Sometimes you will see different aging on double digit numbers on 1 shoulderboard and it is completely legitimate.

therefore the conclusion that they could be different ones
Mark, I was careful and didn't claim something I can't proof.
Know what you mean ; you have to be an expert in material and physics as well when collecting shoulder boards.
It seems that every variant is possible to be legitimate as well as to be a "mix".
