Does anyone know who the RKT is on the right? The general on the left is Generalmajor Kurt Oppenländer, Kdr. 305.Inf.Div. I thought it would be easy to find out who the other guy is but it has me stumped. I've been able to narrow down the time period to a few months. Here's what I've got:
Oppenländer received the DKiG on 14 January 1942, took command of 305.Inf.Div. on 12 April 1942 and received the Ritterkreuz on 25 July 1942.

The photos shows Oppenländer with DKiG but without RK, and the photo was taken by a 305.ID soldier. In the photo, winter is well and truly over, and indeed, it seems to show a sunny autumn or summer's day. Taking all that into account, the photo was taken between 12 April 1942 and 25 July 1942. Now it should be easy to find out who else in 305.ID had been awarded the RK before this date. The problem is no-one else had been awarded the RK! Oppenländer was the first in the division to receive it. The mystery RKT is not a general but seems to be an older gentlemen, probably holding a higher rank.

Anyone know?

Thanks!
Jason Mark

Hallo,

I'm looking for a pic of KC holder Walter Lippolt! I got a hint that the one next to Bärenfänger could be him (have a look to the big pic in that thread):

He should be promoted to Lt. d. R. on February 1st 1943.

Thanks and regards

Thanks right now, Florian!

I'm not satisfied if it's really him! Did he also join the PzJgAbt. 240 in end of 1943/begin of 1944?

Cause the photo posted by me was taken in that timeframe...

Regards

Hannes
