Rittm. (Rudolf?) Koppe
Does anyone have any personal information about Rudolf Koppe? Where was he born? An inquiry on another forum concerned a pistol that had been acquired with an inscription on the slide: " Rittm. Koppe" above "Pritzwalk (Priegnitz)". And we aren't talking about any type of presentation piece. This was a combat used pistol: a Browning Hi-Power of 1949 vintage. Matching a person to a single family name is sketchy of course, but wasn't the rank Rittm. used more by cavalry officers, and Koppe was in the Panzer corps. I searched the old reprint of senior Heer general and staff officers and found no Koppe. Thank you for any assistance.FANGIO wrote:Hi everybody!
Any idea on this one posted by "JRA" from http://www.wehrmacht-awards (forum):

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, I seldom post but I wanted to ask if someone could re evaluate the Kriegsmarine wedding photo on page 187. I believe that the Knights cross winner is not Jost Brokelmann but is rather Ulrich Heyse former commander of the U 128. He became a Korvettenkapitän after April 1943 and that would date the photo as being after this date. You need to look at a picture of Heyse without a cap and you will see the distinctive hair line. Also, the officer getting married is a U-boat man. I do not see that Brokelmann ever reached the rank of Korvettenkapitän.
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello alabamaguy,
I think you are right here. I also see that the nosewings of Brökelmann are somewhat wider than those of Heyse and the man on the weddingphoto.
Regards, Hugo.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Who's this RKT seen in Die Deutsche Wochenschau Nr. 525 around the 15-min mark, during Hermann Göring's visit to a Channel coast airfield sometime during the Battle of Britain?
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
p.623, pic. Gerhard Willing.jpg, is not Willing, but Otl. Walter Rödlich.
p.632, pic. p1 is certainly not Unfried. To my opinion he looks very much like Hptm. Walter von Gazen (Gaza). I have no proof yet, so if someone could confirm?
Regards, Hugo.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
I think @43 might be Anton Berg, mainly because of the decorations, and the fact that Berg was wearing a cloth DKiG when he was awarded his RK.
