This is my copy of the same scene in France in winter 1940 out of my collection. I was told many years ago from my source that the right KC with the hunting rifle was Gerhard Schöpfel. But your remark raised at least doubts - many thanks. During the period in question both Gerhard Schöpfel as well as Rolf Pingel served as group commanders (I. and III.) with JG 26 "Schlageter". So hopefully somebody else could confirm either Pingel or Schöpfel.

From Litzmannnstädter Zeitung dated 3rd September 1941 :
"Der Führer und Oberste Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht verlieh auf Vorschlag des Reichsmarschalls Hermann Göring das Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes an folgende Offiziere:
Major Voigt, Gruppenkommandeur in einem Stukageschwader: Oberleutnant Schacht, Staffelkapitän in einem Jagdgeschwader; Leut- nant Udet, Flugzeugführer in einem Jagd-Geschwader; Leutnant Kayser, Flugzeugführer in einem Jagdgeschwader."

From die Deutschen Zeitung in den Niederlanden dated 3rd September 1941 :
"Der Führer verlieh das Ritterkreuz an Major Voigt, Oberleutnant Schacht, Leutnant Udet und Leutnant Kayser, die sich als Angehörige von Kampf- und Jagdgeschwadern besonders ausgezeichnet haben."

All unknown KC holders except an Oberleutnant Schacht (but serving in a Fallschirmjäger unit!) : who can help ??
