Hi Gareth,

Walter Boenicke was the commander of the 3.Flieger Division and got his RK on 14.5.1944. The ceremony in the photos show the ceremony from 29.2.1944 and the awarding general without an RK (you could have a match there), but when could KG 53 be linked to 3.Flieger Division I could not find anything - no Oob which I could find shows any link of subordination.

best,
Miha

Hi Denis!
Do you mean this F-W Müller?:
http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_sea ... ord=müller
The man in Freiherr's pic has no hair at all.

Another question for Denis:
In Biblio_9 you identified these men:
- Ofw Karl Christmann (to be confirmed)
- the tall officer : Heinz Gutmann
- the officer whose the face is partially hidden by his visor cap : Heinz Zöllner (to be confirmed)
- Ernst-Ascan Gobert
- Johann Dreher (to confirm)
- Major (already RKT) : maybe Karl Rauer

I have this pic of Zöllner (Source: balsi.de) and even though he's not looking at the camera I think that the man you've identified as Johann Dreher could be Zöllner, what do you think? Who could be the man you identified as Zöllner then? (if I`m right of course).

Last one:
I have to agree with Freiherr on Biblio_11, it`s Thomaschki. I've seen a few pics of Betzel and he is always wearing the "General Assault Badge".

Any help is appreciated.

Best,

FANGIO

Hello Fangio
I wasn't talking about FW Müller but FW Jürgen !! You need a rest, stop looking at RKT !! However, I agree both wear the same first name :P

Regarding Zöllner and Dreher, thanks for the pic. The more I see both, the more I get confused !! I could have made a mismatch and this might be Christmann, Guttmann, Dreher, Gobert and Zöllner. I am rather comfortable with ID of Gobert and Guttmann though.

@ Dieter : it would be interesing to have a bettert scan from colar patches or shoulder straps from the third (from the left side) and the fifth (idem) newly RKT.

Dreher was awarded the RK as Oblt while Zöllner was Hptm.

Best Regards
Denis

Denis,

I will definitely go with your original indetification.

ObFwb Karl Christmann ... most likely
Heinz Gutmann
Heinz Zoeller .... most likely
Ernst Ascan Gobert
Johann Dreher....Scherzer and Kai Winkler have the same pic. It's a match.
Karl Rauer

Fangio pic's I first thought was Trautloft but as someone pointed out in this forum, Trautloft was a very stapping man. I have seen this man being identified as Gerhard Stüdemann of StukaG77 and I think that is right.

Cheers
Freiherr

Oh my God! I need a doctor right now. Glasses please!!! I'll pic up the phone right now and call an ophthalmologist.
To stop looking at RKT? no way my friend, I can't stop it now!
At least we agree with the first name.
Best,

FANGIO

Hans Christern, Kmdr 35 PzRgt, 4 Pz. The bear emblem has since been re-confirmed as that of 35 PzRgt and not of 3 Pz Div's Berlin Bear.

Cheers
