The kommandant of U 178 was KsZ Klaus Ibbeken and the Korvettenkapitan Klaus Scholtz Ritterkreuztäager mit Eichenlaub (10.9.1942) was at the head of the 12th U-Flotillen at Borbeaux. Both on the picture

Thank you, Herbert, for all the ID's.

Thank you, Denis, and welcome back. Hope you can spend more time with us next year. I misspoke... the pic with Dönitz were probably all RKT KKs, not Kaleu's. The first man on the extreme left must be Kals. Piening became a FlKmd much later than 1943, Sohler, his predecessor, had not RK.

Rösing was FdU West

Kals Kmd 2Fl Lorient
Zapp Kmd 3Fl La Rochelle
Scholtz Kmd 12Fl Bordeaux
Schulz Kmd 6Fl St Nazaire
Winter Kmd 1Fl Brest
Lehmann Kmd 9Fl Brest
Kuhnke Kmd 10Fl Lorient

As to Loewer or Stamer, I think it could be Stamer although I have no pic of him. The back of this pic had some very bad handwritting that looked like Stemmermann. Does anyone have a pic of Staemer to post? Scherzer does not have one and I have no Biblo for surface vessel RKTs.

Cheers

Hello Freiherr
Thanks for your kind words.
Here is Stamer coming from the Biblio Verlag book about Surface Fleet... I have personaly a preference for Loewer.

PS : What I have read ??? I can't believe that this book is not in your library....
Sad day, the end of a Myth....

Hi Denis,

You are right. Looks like Loewer. Well, KM took a back seat after the remaining Stockerts and Obermaier and Patzwall and Dörr and Schultz, Wegmann & Zinke!!

OK, a few more....
