Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, again, all,
On PP 51, there is a large pic depicting 4 RKT's and there was some confusion as to who all four are or were.
I can offer a solution. The pic is listed as 4RKTsjpg.
From left to right: Major Hans-Georg Herzog, General Karl Decker, Major Wilhelm Drewes, and Major Gerhard Friedrich.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, All,
On PP 52, listed as UbRkt2.jpg is a picture of Major Walter Lux. I don't recall if this pic was identified, and apologize if this is old ground.
I only discovered this list about a week ago and I am going through and trying to identify those postings or pix which, heretofore, have not been identified.
I will be writing an introduction, as to who I am and what I am doing here. But, suffice it to say, I consider it a great honor to be on this thread and I want to do all I can to help. There is a lot of great expertise here, not to mention, great eyes:

Anyway, I hope this helps.

Hello, again,
On PP 72, listed as find4.jpg., I am going to say that is the later Generalleutnant Walter von Hippel. I do not know if this has already been identified.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, All,
On PP 87, there is a sketch-portrait photograph listed as 6059[1].jpg and was at first believed to be General Walther von Seydlitz-Kurzbach, but according to the captioning associated with this pic, it was claimed that, given the assertion that it was of a general who participated in "Operation Zitadelle", it could not be that of General von Seydlitz.
Whatever the captioning and whatever the information given to support the belief that it could not be that of von Seydlitz, it is in fact a sketch-portrait of the man.
On PP 90, there are two large pix listed as those being of Ewald Quest, who is wearing an RAD uniform. Well, according to my research and comparing those pix of the same man, I believe that those pix are of Feldmeister im RAD Heinz Korn, who received his KC on 14 Jan 1945 as Messoffizier in the 4th Kompanie of schwerer Flak-Abteilung 232 (RAD 8/60).
After comparing Quest's pic I have and that of Heinz Korn, I am of the opinion that the depicted individual is that of Heinz Korn.
If there is any feedback, I welcome it.
Thank you very much.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hi Terry,
a belated welcome to the forum !
I've just read your introduction which has its proper place over in the other sub-forum. Thanks for that. What can I say about your short report about your collection - outstanding, incredible, great !! Congratulations !
You are very welcome with all that background to help, assist and discuss here !
As you have treated a number of lower pages and it appears that you've identified some holders who weren't done so far I just got the idea to compile an index for this thread. Placed on page 1 and listing all the results.
What do you think about this, colleagues ? Worth the work ?
Best regards
Bernd

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, All,
On PP 120, there is a request to identify two unknown RKT's. One is Luftwaffe.
I perused the site "Joanna's Militaria" and the only LW RKT I saw listed as unknown is a photograph of General der Flakartillerie Walther von Axthelm. His widow sent me that pic many years ago.
I do not know if that was identified, and apologize if this is the case.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hello, All,
On PP 105 under the listing findrktaolh.jpg which depicts the award of the KC to a large officer. This individual was not identified.
That is Oberst (Bw) Helmut Reichel.
I spoke with him on the telephone once while I was in Germany and he sent me that pic along with others.
Hope this helps.

Hello, again.
On PP 117, there was some discussion about that photo of Osterkamp with a beard. he is wearing the collar tabs of a Generalleutnant. I have a post-war photograph of General Osterkamp attending a civilian function with his wife and this picture shows him with a beard, basically the same type as shown in the photo on PP 117.
Hope this helps.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, All,
Going back to PP 105, photo identified as Oberstleutnant (Oberst BW) Helmut Reichel, there was some interest in the officer placing the decoration around his neck.
According to the information I have on this pic, it is the deputy divisional commanding officer Generalleutnant von Basse, who was not a KC-holder.
Hope this helps.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, Freiherr,
I noticed that you had requested id's of the two pix labeled grassmann1qr3.jpg on PP 125. Attempts were made to decipher the handwriting. I offer you another possibility.
They are, as follows: Oberst Kunke
Oberst Müller
Dr. Mair
Kreisleiter Ochsner
Standortenführer Gabelmahn
Landrat Christ
I will try to do the same with the second pic.
Hope you are well.

Hello, again, Freiherr,
Here goes with the second pic labeled grassmann2qr3.jpg.
Here is the decipherment of that handwriting, and I feel very confident about these, as I do the others.
Here goes: Bannführer Kaiser (Hitler Youth. He can be seen at the rear)
Oberstleutnant Hillmeier
Major Julier, Landau
Hope this helps. Took a bit, but I was sure I could figure it out.
Take care.

Hello, again,
On PP 127, there is a depiction of a Bundeswehr general whom I think was adjudged to be Generalleutnant Franz Pöschl. I apologize, if this is in error.
The photograph is that of Generalmajor (Bw) Karl Herzog.
Hope this helps. I have three different pix of him wearing this uniform and there is no doubt as to this is.
Take care.
