Hi Oberstab,
Thanks for identifying Walter Kaeding and Ernst Kals. This would date the pictue to around 15.05.44 when Kaeding won the RK and Kals was commander of the 2nd U-booteflotilla. This would narrow down the unknown RKT ObLtzS on the right of Kriegsmarine 1.jpeg to one of 91 U-boat officers in the flotilla!
Happy Easter
Freiherr

Hi Denis,
I think you are right that it was Oblt zS Horst von Schroeter. It was an Oblt zS in the picture and von Schroeter won his RK on 01.06.44, very close to Kaeding's on 15.05.44 so it would make sense that they were congratulated upon on the same occasion.
Hi Paal,
I think you are the proud owner of this pic too? Did anyone ever figure out who he was?
cheers
Freiherr

Hello Daniel
The first one (Heer Officer) is Martin Hackl
The second one is, as far as I remember, Karl Radermacher.
Both were photographied during the bestowal of the NKSiG on 12/12/44 in the Rathaussaal of Ulm. There were about 85 recipients of the NKSiG who were betowed the clasp by Himmler.
I look for the third one. If my memory serves me, the third one was photo'd in the Berlin Sportpalast.
Regards
Denis

He was awarded the DKiG on 27/11/44 as Fw. in 6/GR 45 (21. ID).
I haven' t been successful in finding again the thrid guy but I am sure I have already seen it on one of the Biblio Verlag's book. As far as I remember, there is no entry for him but he is depicting with 2 other NCO RKT in a group photo. I believe I had seen it in one of the Infanterie books or in the Gebirgstruppen ones. Check those latter ones first, you should find something.
Regards
Denis
