Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hi Anil, thanks, and thanks for the PM, all fine, no problem !
@all,
a few days ago this thread crossed two remarkable marks ! 300 pages and 400.000+ views !
In the name of the AHF staff and in the name of all members and viewers I would like to say thank you very much to all participants during the last over six years !! All the "crews" of the early years, the current "id crew" and those members who are part of this from the very beginning until today have created this enormous, fascinating and useful topic. Not to forget all who requested ids and delivered so many photos. Keep on going, dear colleagues !
Kind regards
Bernd

page 301 : Foto 6.jpg , Foto 7.jpg , Foto 19.jpg
page 302 : Foto 24.jpg , Foto 29.jpg , unk RKT01.jpg
As always some results of the recent id process and some points/details which might be worth a repeated mentioning, resp. re-asking to avoid any errors or confusion :
All said : Rudolf Henne ; on the index
This is/was captioned on the original place : Clemens-Heinrich Graf von Kageneck (wedding) ; on the index
Confirmation list : any objections ? Hinrich Warrelmann

Helmut Thierfelder is perfect (see same picture page 168)
same picture of "Ketterer" on page 169
first suggest there was Karl Küspert
which cant be correct concerning rank...
Karl Ketterer could be fine....??
the new request - page 299
Yes, nothing open for Thierfelder : index - page 168 : Helmut Thierfelder
Another photo with clear id for : index - page 168 : Karl Ketterer
There is a similarity IMO, look at the cheek.
But,..the book text (page 299) is wrong then. Ketterer, 7./Pz.Rgt. 15 received the KC in 1943, not in Kurland, and not with 4. PD, if I'm correct !?

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hi docarchiv,
thanks for your big series, both nice fotos and ids !!
I'm doing a bit hard to locate the following previous ids. Could you name the pages please (or link to the pic) ?

regardsThis is Oberfeldwebel Erich Scheibig !
This is Kapitänleutnant Hanns-Hartwig Trojer !
This is Major Franz Dutter!
I think it is Hauptmann d. R. Wilhelm Reimann! If he lived in Berlin and died there!
It is Hans Sauer during the KC ceremony for Oberfeldwebel Franz Schlund!

Hello docarchiv, docarchiv wrote:This is Jürgen Oesten!Ingo wrote:Any ideas who this could be ?
this is the last of your ids till now which I can't find. Not without much work at least. Member Ingo who asked for it, wasn't active for weeks here, so the pic has to be in a much lower page. The "quote" function of the forum does not include the attached photo, just the text. If you need technical assistance how to create a link to the respective page, sent me a PM please, I'll give you a short help (it is not difficult).
Otherwise, the page number please.

Here the Hoffmann postcard from the index : (not the best quality ; I'm sure one of us has a better one)

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification

I don't think the man in RKT 01 looks like Kalkhoff at all (although the only image I have of Kalkhoff is that postcard). Is that a Tank Destruction Badge (PVA) on his right sleeve? Did Kalkhoff have a PVA?

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
John,
I would agree, I can't state a 100% similarity, too. The PVA situation is not known to me. The officer shoulder boards have been mentioned already, and Kalkhoff's highest rank Oberfeldwebel (according to author Scherzer).
So, as long as nobody says "IS", this is not a Kalkhoff id, right ?
More pics of Kalkhoff would be of interest, Yes.

Re: the T-34 NCO with PVAs
page 162 : distruttore carri.jpg
and (double / same pic)
page 293 : RK-T-34.jpg (again)
should be Walter Kuhn , Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1.
This according to a colleague watching and also in my point of view. (almost "is").
See attached two examples from a variety of photos available by http://www.hotlinecy.com/KCAPg3-J.htm [source] and on the bottom the standard portrait of Kuhn (source : courtesy of a private collection).
Any doubts on Kuhn or objections ?
/ Bernd
PS: It might be the case, that the group pic is in this thread, too but I could be wrong as well. As always, if you find it, give a hint please.

Finally, the index is updated -> page 305 .
