Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
With regard to the open requests the index is updated up to page 314.
Not identified :
page 310 : 1.jpg , 73.03 - Ferdinand Heim? , 40.72 , 94.95 , 108.23
page 311 : 42.26
page 312 : 41.82 , 51.8 - third Pio officer on the right side
page 313 : 38 KiB , 45.92 (again, page 1, too) , 52.99 - Günther von Kluge and ? , 45.17 - Ernst Kühl and ?
page 314 : 32.05 , Res.Laz.jpgs (2) , 1940.jpg - Wilhelm Knapp ?
Two points of note :
1) I take it, that we have an agreement that the page 311 series shows -> Dr. Friedrich Franek.
There was no support for Glasl. Franek is a convincing id to me.
2) 51.8 - third Pio officer on the right side
Repeated request to name the third Pionier Offz. on this photo. Any chance ?
..and, connected to that engineer photo, of interest : we have reference pics now for the "two Karl Pabst", Gebirgs-Artillerie-Regiment 112, resp. Pionier-Bataillon 296
Karl Pabst , Geb.AR 112
Karl Pabst , Pi.Btl. 296

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Biblio 7.jpg (50.17 ), page 115
This one is Unteroffizier Johann Drexel.
Sad news, while I was looking for this picture. My father, born 1928, ww II veteran, one of the reasons of my hobby, died this evening in hospital. He is the one on the left. He is not a KC holder, but take a minute for him, thank you!
Kind regards!

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Dear docarchiv,
herzliches Beileid !
In the name of the AHF staff and this very thread community here take the condolences please.
In the work on this hobby and the heat sometimes to manage and coordinate things don't let's forget that the family and our loved ones are the most important things in life.
----------------------------this is a minute of silence and remembrance for your father, docarchiv.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
The bomber pilot on page 319 item 44.17 appears to be Wilhelm Schmitter. He was a first lieutenant when he got the K>C. according to Angola's On the field of honor.

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, Bernd,
On Page 310, you ask for the id of 73.03 which depicts a general. That is Generalmajor Arthur Schmitt, who served in Africa as Führer of Kampfgruppe Ost in Panzergruppe Afrika and commanding officer of the Italian Division "Bardia", at the time of award of the KC which was on 05 Feb 1942.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Terry

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello, again, Bernd,
Relating to Point 1 of your two point statement, in which you indicate or in fact believe that the depicted is not Glasl but you are convinced that it is General Franek.
It is a poor picture and it is difficult to really tell, but I can see no mustache (which acccording to other pix I have seen of him) is black or at least dark. There is no indication that the officer has a mustache and looking at the shape of his head, I think may leave the id open to doubt. This is just my view, but I think it may need some clarification and/or other substantiation.
Just a thought.
Take care.
Terry

Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
I thought , too, that the photo 86.02 was Franz Welzel. But, don't rule out Dr. Rudolf Kolbeck, dentist, a reserve Lt. Col. The likeness is very close. Cheers
