Hello,

don't agree with Darius. Darius has no hanging earlobes.

docarchiv
Hallo Docarchiv
You're right !
The ear are not matching with Darius' ones so the mystery remains about this Panzer officer.
Sorry

Bernd R wrote:Denis,

welcome back to the forum !

I have done the administration of your comeback round (captions, index). Of note a few cases.

The Kurt Rohlfs id :
3 Pio officers : Karl Pabst - Christoph Duncker - Kurt Rohlfs
at first glance the man depicted on THE 20. PGD site -> http://www.20pzgrendiv.eu/Personen/Pi20 ... 20Kurt.htm looks different ; but it is the same man IMO, the hair style is significant.

The Theodor Prost id.
you said :
see page 310
This is RK Verleihung for Theodor Probst.
In the same ceremony, Oblt. Gottfried Donat was also bestowed the RK

confirmed ; another pic by docarchiv, identified earlier :
Gren.Rgt. 519 ceremony : Alfred Druffner - Theodor Prost - Erich Jaschke - Gottfried Donat
So, the presenting Offz. should be Gen. Jaschke (behind Prost), although the quality of this particular pic is too bad to say something definitely IMO.

There are two ids now - shifted to the confirmations list :
Heinz Ewald ? or Otto Debus ?

page 313 : 38 KiB - Wolfgang Darius ?
I also don't agree to Darius.

Hallo Bernd
Thanks for your words.

Regarding the RK Verleihung for Theodor Probst, see page 325, there is a very good picture of Druffner, Probst, Jaschke and Donat. There was also Arthur Kullmer attending the ceremony but he is unfortunately not shown here.

Regarding the Debus/Ewald case, I am rather comfortable with Otto Debus: this officer was awarded the RK as an observer in an Aufkl.Staffel and as such it is normal he is shown wearing a Beobachter Abzeichen on his jacket.
Heinz Ewald was a fighter pilot belonging to the famous JG 52. As such, he would have borne a Pilot badge.
The Observer badge can be seen on the photo.
Heinz Ewald ? or Otto Debus ?

Regarding Darius, yes, unfortunately this is not him. Sorry :(

Let me finish this thread to thank you for the daily work you are performing here.

Another RK from Ebay

Hello
see page 301
As already mentioned by Bernd, the 3rd soldier is Hinrich Warrelmann (wearing no RK at the time this photo was taken).
I would say the new Ritterkreuzträger next to Warrelmann might be Wilhelm Broeffel. I need a confirmation on that.

Just a short overview on the current clarified ids and corrections :

page 301 : a7 EBa.jpg (again) - Wilhelm Broeffel ?
is back on the no id list. It is on the index as well -> Hinrich Warrelmann. I mistakenly took the id by John and Harmel as a full answer for this request. The RKT wasn't meant and is still open. Wilhelm Broeffel ?

page 303 : Otto Debus
is on the index now ; two ids/confirmations.

page 312 : 51.8 - Pi Offz to the right
is back on the no id list. The third man is not Rohlfs.

page 329 : Eckhardt von Dewitz
is on the index.

page 335 : Heinrich Ruhl, with Friedrich Fangohr
on the index ; Ruhl's divisional cdr. (122. ID) is added.

RE: the General der Infanterie Erich Abraham case

Hi Freiherr,

the one thing which is solid is the Wilhelm Wegener id.
The pic on page 340 : Wilhelm Wegener can be regarded as part of a series where this one on page 301 : Wilhelm Wegener does belong to as well I think. Warrelmann was rejected at least.

Upon your and Terry's objection I have shifted the photo in question to the confirmations list :
page 88 : Erich Abraham
The id in the past wasn't that strong ("believe") if I have read all statements about this photo. I'm not 100% convinced about Abraham. But, hm, ..can't find another general based on a good argument this moment. There was no "Yes" for him in this re-check round right now.

A third thing is about your three part Abraham example : http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 2#p1395442
Firstly, thanks for the material without saying ! :D I cannot suppress doubts if the pic on the left side indeed shows Abraham.. :?

Attached is another Abraham photo, taken from the AHFactbook gallery : http://axishistory.com/index.php?id=4433

greetings,
Bernd

As regards the Abraham tryptich, I have seen the one on the left captioned elsewhere as Walther Risse but the ribbon bar seems to match the one in the centre.

The KC General visiting the Hitlerjugend operation on page 341 (posted by Someone from Kharkov) was identified in a posting by Akira Takiguchi on another forum as Albrecht Schubert.
