Perhaps this pic was from about the same time as #80. In my pic, the RKT between von Manteuffel and Model was variously described as Horst Stumpff or Hans Krebs. I don't think it was Krebs. But this general in the middle resembles the general on the left in #80

In the original Die Wochenschau clip, it mentioned a Cmdt Schirmer greeting Ferdinand Schörner. There was a RKT Mj Bertold Schirmer who was commander of I/GrRgt 32/Inf Div 24. The officer in 24_div1.jpg was clearly an ObstLt in the clip and appeared immediately before 24_div2.jpg greeting Schörner. Schirmer only reached the rank of Mj according to www:das-ritterkreuz.com.

So one of these two was Schirmer.

From another Die Wochenschau clip. Unidentified general awarding RK to 19 yr old SS Sturmmann Neumann of the Freiwilligenlegion Niederlande. But there was no record of such person in Krätschmer. Who were the two? It was said to be in the Ladogasee area, Army Group North.

This is even more obscure from another clip. A GenMj Ziehlberg was awarding RK to ObLt Jachty (who3.jpeg) and a Jg Siedler. I found no record of any of the three!

What Year and Month?

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 05 Jul 2004 03:37

Dear Sir,

What year and month did the awarding of SS-Sturmmann Neumann for the Knight's Cross took place according to "Die Deutsche Wochenschau"? I wonder what Neumann was doing in the "Dutch Legion" of the Waffen- SS since he was German? Or maybe a ethnic-German who was born in the Netherlands? There was only one other SS-Sturmannn of the "Dutch Legion" that was a Knight's Cross holder. Gerardes Mooyman, definately pure Dutch.

Regards,

Edward :|
