Hi,

Foto 118 - Werner Weihrauch.
Foto 119 - Adolf Weiss.

Page 301 - Foto 29.jpg - This man looks like Franz Berger, what do you think?

Edit: page 379 - Untitled-139.jpg - Also Werner Weihrauch (damn, it is hard work for the brain - to remember where you saw this face before, in this giant thread  )

Best wishes
Ruslan

Hello John
This is the so-called "Springender Reiter" which was an in insignia persoannly bestowed by General Baade (Kdr. of 90. Pz.Gre.Div., and former calvaryman himeself) to meritorious members of this division. This was not an automatic reward, it was only decided by General Baade and was usually given when the soldier was bestowed a "high" award (e.g. Deutsche Kreuz or Ritterkreuz).
Only one non-member of the Division would have received this unit: General von Senger und Etterlin.

Regarding 90. Pz.Gren.Div., it is worth also noting that all members were allowed to wear the so-called "Sardinienschild", a little badge of Sardinia on the left part of their cap (Feldmütze, Schirmmütze).

Hope it helps
Denis

Interesting case from http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... p?t=565048. Description says "He served in the Caucasus with the 97. Gebirgsjäger "Spielhahnjäger" Division." But 1) 97. Gebirgsjäger "Spielhahnjäger" Division never existed. There was 97. Jäger-Division nicknamed "Spielhahn-Division"; 2) I've not found "Einhellinger" in the list of Knight's Cross recipients. So it need to be solved.

Hello SfK!

Georg Einhellinger is listed as a DKiG-Träger by Patzwall & Scherzer (2001). He received the award on 04.02.1944 as a Leutnant in I./Jg.Rgt. 207 (Part of the 97. Jäger-Division), but he is not listed as a RKT by Scherzer (2005).

Regards.
