Dienstklasse II.: Generalstabsarzt (Beamter d. Heeresverwaltung) = Generalarzt (ab 01.10.1936 Offizier!) = Generalmajor

Dienstklasse III.: Oberstabsarzt 1. Kl. (Beamter der Heeresverwaltung) = Oberstarzt (ab 01.01.1936 Offizier!) = Oberst

From the "Dienstaltersliste der Generalstabs- und Truppenoffiziere des ehemaligen österreichischen Bundesheeres, Stand 1.8.38":
test.JPG
All generals listed there are Generalstabsoffiziere. Also listed on other pages:

Generalmajor Moyses 1.8.36 (2b)
Generalarzt Dr. Zamponi 1.1.38 (2)
Generalarzt Dr. Zimmer 1.8.38 (3)
Oberstveterinär Dr. Pindur 1.5.35

A few remarks and questions:
1.) The "ernannt" dates are obviously the dates of the ÖBH promotions, so it looks as if Nagy became an Austrian GM in January 1934 (not December) and Moro in June 1937 (not January).
2.) GM Pohl apparently was an active GM (without RDA), not or only later GM z.V.
3.) Does anybody have more info on GM Ernst Walter (especially DoB / DoD)?
4.) Does anybody have more info on GA Dr. Zamponi (First Name, life dates)?
5.) GA (later GSA) Dr. Zimmer is said to have committed suicide in 1945. Does anybody know when and where?
6.) Dr. Pindur late became GVet z.V. Does anybody have more info on him (First Name, life dates)?

The following later RDA as GM are known to me:
Hammer 01.10.1938 (11)
Hubicki 01.10.1938 (12)
Nagy 01.02.1939 (?)
Feurstein 01.04.1939 (13)
Glasner 01.06.1939 (12)
Basler 01.08.1941 (12)

Haselmayr, Moro, Pohl, Schmidt, Wessely and Wittas apparently retired (or died) without German RDA.

@Dieter
Danke! Pindur died in 1956. There is a Nachruf in the "Wiener Tierärztliche Monatsschrift", Band 43, S. 584, but Google Books gives only snippets, so I can't see the date. And I found some traces of a Dr. Raimund Zamponi, so maybe this was his correct spelling.

@Christian
Strange! Did the ÖBH issue backdated or "upgraded" ranks like the Wehrmacht did? I can't see why the rank should have been altered in 1938. A mistake maybe (in der Zeile verrutscht)? I have 26 January 1934 also for Stümpfl, is this correct?

Post by Frech » 05 Aug 2015, 21:23

here for Stümpfl:

25.02.1938 Versetzung in den Ruhestand mit Wirkung vom 31.03.1938
21.03.1938 Versetzung in den Ruhestand aufgehoben

maybe his "short retirement" changed his RDA?

@Jake
I just mentioned that volume above. :wink: Trouble is you never have such a scientific magazine at hand if you need it ... Universities with a veterinary branch could have it in their library.

@ Christian
Nochmals vielen Dank! What does the VBl. say for Moro? Was his Austrian date of rank also altered in the 1938 list?

@ Askropp: I deleted my post apparenlty moments before you replied. It's probably because of the heat down here :P. I hoped I could pull some strings, since I have an acquaintance who is studying Veterinary Medicine, but it looks like the journal's older volumes aren't accessible online. Oh well...

------------------------------
Edit: A bit out of the topic of the present discussion, I remembered a post by GL Josef von Wächter's grandson (http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... c#p1470750), in which it is stated that Wächter was born in 1863, not 1866 as it is widely reported.

After he had finished the Oberrealschule in Prag, Wächter entered army service as Einjährig-Freiwilliger in the Feldjägerbataillon 2 on 29.01.1883. Had he been born in 1866, that would make him 16 years and 1 month old, which I believe is quite peculiar. The 1863 year, on the other hand, would make him 19 years and 1 month old, which I believe is more consistent.
