freiherr wrote:This picture of Guderian visiting the Schnelle Division appears in many books. But Alex has patiently shown me the best quality we can find. We have since been scratching our heads. The other Brantner, Karl Brantner, was CdS of the Schnelle Division. So he must be here. But which one? Any luck you could shed some light, Christian?
Also Rudolf Theiß could be here?
Cheers

I finally can start my research to Panzer-Regiment 33 (this includes units that (were) formed (out) this Regiment) after I finished some of my previous projects that I started before. I was planning this for a very long time and finally time was right (and ofcourse you've got to finish other projects).
I am examing this picture myself and will not share all data that I currently have but I'll answer your question. Oberst Rudolf Theiß is the one on the right of Guderian (standing right next to him) with his right hand on his left arm.

Indeed he was a chubby man, confirmed by an album from WAF. Someone had this album with a few very small blurry scans of Theiß which were captioned. He seemingly was very proud of his album but couldn't care to even see what additional info or comments he could solicit from his fellow hobby enthusiasts. Consigned to a bunch of "very exciting Austiran cluncker armour" now at the bottom of his drawer. Sad but so be it.
Cheers

Good morning!
I have had some luck and found following pic on ebay.de:
Oberst (20th April 1938) Josef GERSTMANN, later Generalmajor (15th May 1944), former Austrian officer.
Have a look onto his wonderful full size medal bar. You can see Order of the Iron Crown on the first position. On the last you see the Bundesheer 25-years service cross which was not allowed to be worn in the Wehrmacht.
Here a list of Gerstman´s decorations until 1938:
k.u.k. Österr. Militär-Jubiläumskreuz 1848 – 1908
k.u.k. Österr. Bronzene Militärverdienstmedaille am Bande des Militärverdienstkreuzes mit Schwertern
k.u.k. Österr. Silberne Militärverdienstmedaille am Bande des Militärverdienstkreuzes mit Schwertern (zum 2. Mal)
k.u.k. Österr. Militärverdienstkreuz III. Kl. mit Kriegsdekoration und Schwertern (zum 2. Mal)
Kaiserl. Öster. Orden der Eisernen Krone III. Kl. mit Kriegsdekoration und Schwertern
k.u.k. Österr. Kaiser-Karl-Truppenkreuz
k.u.k. Österr. Verwundetenmedaille mit 1 Mittelstreifen
allgemeines Kärntner Kreuz für Tapferkeit
besonderes Kärntner Kreuz für Tapferkeit
Österr. Kriegserinnerungsmedaille mit Schwertern
Militärdienstzeichen für Offiziere 2. Klasse
Regards
Christian

Hi!
I have had luck again and found the following pic at ebay.de:
Char. General der Infanterie Erwin Zeidler Freiherr von Görz
Retiring as k.u.k. Feldmarschallleutnant in 1919 he was one of the Tannenberg-Generals who became honorary GdI in 1939.
Ritter des Militär-Maria-Theresien-Ordens and many others as you can see on his old k.u.k. uniform. Would like to see a pic of him in german general´s uniform.
Regards
Christian
