Who are the others? Could it be Hans-Jürgen Stumpff in the middle? In that case that would be taken before 1940...

I have stared at Bernard Waber's bald head for far too long! :P :P :P
He was born in Mähren and was first in the Austrian Air Force like Löhr. He was already GenMj at this point. Too bad his trousers were blocked.

Now we just need him in a hat!

Trying to ID the others.

Cheers
Freiherr

Does anybody have any family information on Alexander Löhr. He was my wifes great great uncle and she is wondering if there is still any family in Germany or Austria.

Hello dcinkc,

Generaloberst Alexander Löhr had two older brothers, Friedrich (1880–1940) and Michael (1882–?). Friedrich lived in Romania after World War I, he married Frederike–Gabriele Löhr, and died in 1940. His son Peter (b. 1919) joined the Kriegsmarine the same year his father died.

Alexander Löhr married Christine Löhr (née Fellner) in 1919, already had one daughter, Gertrud (b. 1916). She is living in Austria (today her surname is "Egger–Lienz") as of 2004, according to Erwin Pitsch's book "Alexander Löhr / Der Generalmajor und Schöpfer der österreichischen Luftstreitkräfte".

Hi!

In addition to A. Löhr: from http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neue_Deutsche_Biographie:
Father: L. Friedrich, Rheinschiffer (skipper on the Rhein), seit 1875 Kapitän (ship's captain) der Donau -Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft (DDSG, Danube Steam Shipping Company)); Mother: Katharina b. 1849 Krankenschwester (nurse), daughter from Dr. Haymann, russ.milit. surgeon in Odessa (Ukraine).
A. Löhr married in 1919 in Vienna, Christine Johanna Fellner, born 1891
One daughter Gertrud, born 1916
My suspecion is, that Gertrud married Manfred Egger-Lienz, born 17.1.1903 - died 20.10.1974 in Salzburg
Albin Egger-Lienz his father is renowned as a painter of Austria and he had three children with his wife Laura von Möllwald - Lorli b. 9.7.1900, Manfred b. 17.1.1903-20.10.1974 and Frieda al. Ila, 19.3.1912-8.11.2003.

I've seen this photo somewhere too, it's just that I can't remember where... I think on that pic was Löhr bowing over the table, wearing glasses(?), he had pen in hand to sign capitulation and his Ritterkreuz could be well seen. Are we thinking about the same photo?

Greeting, von k.

I suppose that both, Kocjo and Nina thougt on this Löhr Picture...

This Picture is not from the capitulations day. Question is, from which Period this Picture is !
There is not any Picture of Löhr from capitulations day preserved (or exist).

There is only his cars Picture from Topolsica preserved...

Both Pictures from Book: Vojne fotografije/War photos/ 1941-1945, Ljubljana 2010

After capitulation on 9.5.1945 Löhr was in Prison in Topolsica, Slovenia. But he escaped to Carinthia/Koroška and he surrended to English Army. There decide to return Löhr to Yugoslav Army.

There exist one Picture from this returning Period...

Hello,

According to the biography of Löhr by Erwin Pitsch, the above mentioned photo was taken during the battle of Crete, ca. 20./21.05.1941.

Hello Jake.

I found it hard to belive that this foto is from 1941 during the fall of Crete becouse as far as I know Kübler was never there. The other thing is that at the time of attack on Crete both were allready awarded with Knights Cross and I can't see one.
After the fall of Jugoslavija XXXXIX. Mountain Corps that Kübler commanded was under 17.Army in Slovakia. There he was prepering for operation Barbarossa in which he with his Corps participated through the rest of 1941.

Beside that on foto on the right is a soldier of Jugoslav Army and both, Löhr and Kübler, are not wearing any of theirs awards.
And I would say the look on their faces is not of the winning ones.

I was referring to this photo:

The other photo is definetely from the capitulation in May 1945. The march of the Generals to Yugoslav captivity was also videotaped!

Hello Jake,

That is the first of the pictures posted above in Darkos post and it probably was taken during the battle of Crete!
I'm glad we cleared this up. 8-)
