According to Yerger's biography on Raithel (Waffen-SS Commanders; Krüger to Zimmerman), he was entitled to wear the Kreta cufftitle because of his command of 6th Gerbis Division's III/143rd Gerbis Regt. during Merkur.
But the 143rd wasn't involved in the attack on Crete! 141st was! Surely only participants in the operation were entitled to the honour?
