Awardholders / unit
RE : finishing of review -> all done
215. ID : Freiherr von Ow auf Wachendorf - thanks Shawn for clearing with a document.
These are the little "highlights" I like most and which are making a project day !
8. SS-Kav.Div "Florian Geyer" : annoying and sometimes difficult as usual ; to make it short :
1) the mistake "Friedrich Buck, Kav.Rgt 18" obviously is originating in the Krätschmer book. Hi is listed like that on page 839 there.
He is listed on [page 13] with SS-Kav.Rgt 15 both for KC and NKiG which is correct.
2) Korth, DKiG, is listed with SS-RR 1
3) Lombard, DKiG, is listed : Kdr SS-RR 1
The issue here and in general for SS-Kav.Brig and SS-Kav.Div is
a) the usage of the unit designations "Reiter-Regiment" and "Kavallerie-Regiment"
b) that in fact in many cases there was a longer time period between proposal and award. In consequence there are recipients of "RR" in 1943 ! although the unit designation changed to "Kav.Rgt" in 1941 (most sources say 01.09.1941).
Lombard was awarded the DKiG for earlier service (turn 1941/42, especially january 1942) and the recommendation is dated "22.03.1942"! [source: manuscript Miller] Award then on 11.02.1943 ! [
At time of action he was Sturmbannführer d.R. and the unit obviously was called still "RR". At time of award he was Obersturmbannführer d.R. and the Rgt was called "Kav.Rgt" already.
So, he is listed according to Scheibert ; the others, too.
Bernd

RE : "Feldherrnhalle" units (page 17]
lists are in a status according to the recent discussions and are not completely fine.
I have added Hans-Georg Fernau as a supplement. To class him with the headquarter division "Pz.Div FHH 2" is correct perhaps but it's not obvious and we need a confirmation or additional sources.
A look over the lists is showing that the official and planned unit designations "Pz.Gren.Rgt 1, 2 ..." are not to see often. Therefore "Gren.Rgt FHH" or "Gren.Rgt (mot) FHH" was used obviously until the end. Makes a classification difficult only by unit designation and dates.
So, Fernau, Kdr I./GR (mot) FHH" can belong to every division (?).
After a time of reflection and further research and maybe more input I will present the "FHH" units in the standard review style to make a final choice what is correct and what has to be set on the open points list.
Thanks, Bernd

Please, all, help me to finish the review of the following divisions :
75. Infanterie-Division [page 16]
76. Infanterie-Division [page 16]
81. Infanterie-Division [page 16]
The Pz.Jäg.Abt 181 was reformed on 01.04.1944 ; Stug.Abt 1181 which existed since feb 1944 was incorporated as 2. Kp ; so, it normally should read : 2./Pz.Jäg.Abt 181 (there are other EBS recipients of Pz.Jäg.Abt 181 in 1945) ; instead of overtaking an unclear and wrong unit designation we should list the obvious and logic one here.
59. Inf.Div , 64. Inf.Div and 77. Inf.Div [page 16] : fine
Thanks, Bernd

DKiG ; just to re-check, first name ? not a main name ? = "Rufname" in GermanBoehmer, Siegfried, Erich, Gerhard, 10.03.1944, Oberleutnant, 2./Gren.Rgt. 222
NKiG ; date ?Goerke, Kurt, 00.00.0000, Feldwebel, Zugführer i. d. 1./Gren.Rgt. 172
76. Infanterie-Division [page 16]

Karl Paar
Hello.
I'd like to know if Karl Paar is counted as a NKSiG träger or not, please.
Paar, Karl, 0-0-0000, SS-Hauptscharführer d.R., SS-Rgt. "Radolfzell"
In the page 56 of this thread, 23-5-2007 at 14:50 is this comment:
"Paar, Karl was listed with date „00.00.0000“ in the 1986 edition of Dörr ; he is not listed in the 2006 edition anymore"
Does anyone know why he was in one edition and not in the next one?
Best regards.
Jordi

RE : review of the last series of Inf.Divs finished, thanks Shawn
RE : Karl Paar , (NKiG)
Jordi, I take it he was listed for the time being in the 1986 edition and is not listed anymore because no official (or other) confirmation could be found.
The field of Close Combat Clasp Holders was much in progress the last years and it is a matter of fact that this field has it's own difficulties. In general there is still development and further research is taking part (see latest work RKT + NKiG by Florian Berger). More recipients have been found and are confirmed right now (if I'm correct the number increased from 615 , Dörr 3rd ed. to 633, Dörr , 4th ed.) ; on the other hand others were crossed out.
Of note, see here a hard review (in German) of Dörr's 4th edition : http://swbplus.bsz-bw.de/IFB_06-2_330.pdf
the author is questioning the sense of such a compilation and is a bit astonished about the public which might be interested in this topic.
Summarizing the introduction : 633 holders listed ; presumed to be 700 - 750 recipients (Dörr)
RE : 21. Inf.Div [page 9] : NKiG list added (there was a list of 3 only)
it's Joachim for sure , "Joaschim" is a typo, never seen this first name
Kutschkau award date : 01.02.1945 -> taken from Scherzer, "RKT"

I have found some discrepancies for the 16.Panzergrenadier-Division:
NKSiG träger Hellinger, Helmut is written Hellfinger, Helmut
Source: http://www.ww2awards.com/person/6294
NKSiG träger Schmitt, Hugo is written Schmitz, Hugo
Source: http://www.ww2awards.com/person/9122
NKSiG träger Springwald, Rolf was awarded in the7./Gren.Rgt. 60 (mot.) instead of 7./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 60, just have a look to the others NKSiG trägers.
