according to Tessin this unit was a Heerestruppe, located at Bhf. [station] VERONA in 1944 and subordinated to Transport-Kommandantur TURIN ; in 1945 located at Bhf. TORTONA .
Unfortunately the abbr. is not listed in the Factbook abbr. section.

Just a thought, but perhaps these German Cross in Silver recipients might be listed as "Attached" to the 20. Gebirgs-Armee/Wehrmachtbefehlshaber Norwegen. I suspect, although I can’t say for certain, that these awards were rendered in support of the WB Norwegen. Opinions/thoughts would be most welcome!

For Matthiae - april 1944 - it is a matter of interpretation and 100% re-check. Could well be that in fact LORIENT did receive the official "Festung" status in june 1944 first ; according to Tessin Festung Lorient, resp. Festungs-Kdt. Lorient was in duty since feb 1944. Dünkirchen - Festung since dec 1944 .

Shawn, I'm on it to list them with their respective sections.

In connexion with these additions and many of the past - some of them entitled "raw data" - I realized that there are a lot of that kind of entries distributed in the thread. As I felt that this is unprofitable for all I've handled this matter in a way which hopefully will allow to keep the overview and enables all to follow the status quo as well as to make contributions.

We now have the new big section "raw data" general view on [page 105]

To keep the overview and to point it out I have added a note to all those parts :

I have removed a Kommandobehörden, DKiS list from the questions list [page 80] - which will be the place for the "hard nuts" and those cases handled several times without success - to this new general view.


Please take note that there is another big compilation - Heerestruppen on [page 92] - which is intended to be a section of it's own. During the project it was the goal to have it and to keep it.
Now, what we have set on the agenda additionally is to class these recipients / units to a headquarter they served with, resp. earned the award with. Those determined are or will be underlined and the data are / will be added to the respective headquarter unit.
We had this and I would suggest to go on like that, to not cross out the entries from the overall Heerestruppen list.

In contrast to that I think it would be the best and normal procedure to cross out entries from the "raw data" lists when removed to a headquarter unit.

All of the current and all upcoming additions which can't be added to an exisiting section will be added to [page 105].


Further points I noticed :

The most of the Harko / Arko have been classed to an Armee or Korps but a few are still open.
Harko / Arko section [page 83]
on my to-do list to look for that ; underlining is still missing also.

I think a few recipients which should belong to the Wehrkreise section on [page 84] are listed with the Kommandobehörden on [page 80].
