Announcing a new award for inclusion in our ongoing project: Anerkennungsurkunde des Oberbefehlshabers des Heeres für Flugzeugabschüsse or, in English, the Commendation Certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army for Shooting Down Aircraft.

This information is from the following source:

Scherzer, Veit. Die Inhaber der Anerkennungsurkunde des Oberbefehlshabers des Heeres für Flugzeugabschüsse 1941-1945. Scherzer’s Militair Verlag, Burgstadt Ranis, 1994.

The recipients - Unit-level awards as well - will be added to their respective units the next time !

Best regards,
Shawn

Yes My grandma went to germany (her last trip) also with my father In Feb/march 2007 and reunion with Major helmuth wandmaker, My grandma was very emotionally onces she saw him she never forget him, and he thought that my grandma died from raid bombings, he told her everything about horror stories in WW2 (my dad was very interesting to hear) yes grandma said he has change alot since from the war, but he still respect to my grandma. he was happy man after the war but still not cope with his war times because he suffering lost of his follow solider who were killed also his painful after being shot on his back and survive it he has been very ill for a while though after the war he often complaint himself "why has this happen why it has end" he often mention about his unit how was good on his tank, and they often talk privately with my grandma. My grandma was very happy to see him for the last time and she still love him. Before he died he owns the shop as vegetable and fruit and he does write the book about being healthy etc he still does not believe jewish he would reject them very easy, also he still believe about "ayan" something like that (that my grandma is bit upset about this) this how grandma see him which never like before the war he was more freely and very respectful to people, however when helmuth want to studies into university they were forced him to join Heer (army) and that is how he has change the behaviour and he only can be studies between july/august it because it was war still on and dont have time to studies which as "part time", while he still love his job with his peer and rose his rank very quickly. he was surprise how clever i am searching for my grandma he was thanking to me for this, than later my grandma and my dad went to munich she was showing my dad where she used to live as young and all that etc, On late july she has been contacted by his relatives that he died peacefully in sleep he only 91 years old. that is all i can say but it long story.

To keep you informed and updated about the additions of this award [Urkunde]
http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Orden/doc-fza.html
there will be short posts about the units where this AU has been added.
The award will appear on the master list - page 7 - with the abbreviations :
AU (Fl) - "Fl" for Flugzeugabschüsse , and AU (Fl) unit - Unit-level award

Further info in general by Shawn :
Taking into account a few discrepancies, Scherzer gives a total of 591 de jure awards, of which 1-580 are numbered (including double unit-awards 276/277, 348/349, 364/365) plus the addition of two further awards numbered 58a and 134a.
Based on the men awarded it could be charaterized as a "Ranks award".
Scherzer notes only 17 Heer officers and 1 W-SS officer received awards.
Only one non-German received an award: Legionär Guido Pizzato.
Of note, the individual awards marked [Date of Action] do not have an award date and are marked by Scherzer as “Druck und Versand fraglich”. Likewise the unit awards with no award date (00.00.0000) and/or no list number (o.Nr.) are marked “Druck und Versand fraglich” as well.

Additions are done for units numbered up to 50 . These are :
Pz.Div : 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26
s.Pz.Abt : 506, 508
Inf.Div (mot) "GD" , Div Brandenburg , 3. Kav-Brigade
Geb.Div : 2, 4, 5, 6, 7
W-SS Divs : 1, 2, 3, 10 Pz.Div ; 4. SS-Pol.PGD ; 7. Geb.Div "Prinz Eugen"
Inf.Div (mot) / PGD : 3, 16, 18, 20, 25, 29
Inf.Div : 1, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 21, 22, 26, 30, 32, 34, 35, 39, 44, 46, 49, 50
Jäg.Div : 8, 28

of note a few peculiarities :
Holzer, Johann, 16.08.1943 (340), Leutnant, 12./Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 85
Holzer, Johann, 16.08.1943 (370), Leutnant, 12./Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 85

Was working off a few points we had recently.
German Cross in Silver recipients:
Balz, Fritz, 28.02.1944, Major, Kdr.d.Div.Nachsch.Tr.d.R.
Friedrichs, Ernst, 05.10.1944, Oberstleutnant, Div.Nachsch.Tr. 300
Hock, Otto, 05.11.1944, Major d.R., Pz.Div.Nachsch.Tr. 9
added to [page 105]
Hainzelmaier, Michael, 20.04.1945, Feldwebel d.B., 1./F.B.Abt. 1
[Feldeisenbahn-Betriebs-Abteilung 1 [ (field) railway maintenance]
according to Tessin this unit was a Heerestruppe, located at Bhf. [station] VERONA in 1944 and subordinated to Transport-Kommandantur TURIN ; in 1945 located at Bhf. TORTONA
added to Feldeisenbahn / Heerestruppen , [page 92]

The Heinrich Schmelzer - Close Combat Clasp in Gold - case is solved and appears to be 100% clear now.
See topic : http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 8&t=137444
Schmelzer added to "Das Reich" [page 42] , 28 NKiG now.
Schmelzer, Heinrich, 06.12.1943, SS-Obersturmführer d.R., Führer [2./SS-Pz.Pi.Btl 2] 16.(Pi.)/SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt. 4 / SS-Pz.Kgr "DR"
RE: Romba, DKiG, "GD" ; hint by Jordi / questionable Scheibert entry
Romba, Hans, 29.03.1943, Oberfeldwebel, 3./Pz.Jäg.Abt. “GD”
["Pz.Gren.Abt." per Scheibert which has to be a typo ; unit listed is a conclusion - confirmation needed]
decided to choose the above listing ; "Pz.Gren.Rgt GD" wouldn't fit looking at the date ; if "Abt." is the correct part of the entry which appears very probable to me Pz.Jäg.Abt would be the natural unit which is meant.
An analysis of the DKiG holders list resulted in notifying this recipient :
Marx, Karl-Joachim, 17.04.1943, Oberleutnant d.R., 3./Pz.Jg.Abt. “GD”
Also "3. Batterie" , and look at the date. As it is a fact that often several men of the same unit were awarded for a specific action I concluded that this really could be the case here, based on unit and date.
Therefore the choice to go one step further than just questioning the Scheibert entry in the note.
Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross with Swords
Wolf, Karl, 21.02.1944, Waffenoberfeldwebel, Rgt. “Brandenburg” (per Dieter: “im Grenadier-Regiment 84 / 102.ID”)
is requested : Karl Wolf Waffenoberfeldwebel RKKVKmS

and I have added German Cross in Gold holders of the Schlachtschiffe [page 119]
based on the compilation here : http://www.deutsche-kriegsschiffe.de/

The Harko / Arko section [page 83] was revised.
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 9#p1090199

It is synchronous now with the parallel entries in the Kommandbehörden section [page 80] .
Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty recipients and a few others are now on [page 83] as well - the same vice versa.

Those listed already with a headquarter are underlined. A few couldn't be determined yet - they are marked red.

The original ("old") Pz.Abt. (Fl) 102 was dissolved in 1941 already. At the moment I'm on the trace it could have got part of Panzer-Brigade 101 in august 1944 ("Restteile Pz.Abt. (Fl) 102, Neuruppin"), eventually Panzer-Verband Lauchert later in september 1944. Can anyone confirm this ?
