Re: Awardholders / unit
I received the below in an email:
/MarcusGentlemen,
you mention my father Ferdinand Müller in your
Awards and decorations, Holders of the German Cross in Gold.
Correction:
Your data: Müller, Ferdinand, 09.10.1942, Leutnant, 2./Pz.Art.Rgt. 33
correct it would be: Müller, Ferdinand, 09.10.1942, Oberleutnant, 1./Pz.Art.Rgt. 33
Re: Awardholders / unit
I'm in contact with Herr Müller and we are on the way to solve this.
The late war story of Ferdinand Müller could be clarified to a high extent, see here

57. Infanteri-Division
Good afternoon.
It seems that we have missed one träger der Ehrenblattspange from the 57. Infanteri-Division:
Josef Schmidt; 1-3-1942; No more data available of this award
Source:
http://www.ww2awards.com/person/17747
At least, I haven't been able to find him in the forum.
Best regards.
Jordi

Re: Awardholders / unit
Hi Jordi !
hm, we have him listed - 57. ID [page 12] - with the Anerkennungsurkunde.
KC : Schmidt, Josef 31.01.1943 Oberst Kdr Gren.Rgt 199 „List“
DKiG : Schmidt, Josef, 26.12.1941, Major, I./Inf.Rgt. 199 “List”
AU : Schmidt, Josef, 01.03.1942 (753), Major, Kdr. I./Inf.Rgt. 199 "List"
open to the proof of something different as always.
If I'm correct there were items from him in a 2009 Hermann Historica auction. Wilco (?)
I have just requested a new login there as I forgot my password..
Best regards
Bernd

Re: Awardholders / unit
That is correct Bernd, I have copied the items for sale there and his Ehrenblattspange was among the for sale items. The Ehrenblattspange was a direct result of the anerkennungsurkunde.hm, we have him listed - 57. ID [page 12] - with the Anerkennungsurkunde.

RE: Josef Schmidt, Gren.Rgt. 199 "List"
Thanks Wilco. An exception ? Isn't this out of the regulations ?
Unfortunately I couldn't find the items on the auction house site (56. and 57. Auktion) ; was an older auction then (?).

Re: Awardholders / unit
I do not know which auction it has been. The awarding of the Ehrenblattspang together with an Anerkennungsurkunde was as far as I know not very uncommon. Dörr's book show several.RE: Josef Schmidt, Gren.Rgt. 199 "List"

Re: Awardholders / unit
Hi Wilco,
I see, thanks. I believe it, no problem with the reality.. Nevertheless I'm a bit irritated about this case as well as about other cases I checked in the meantime. The worst case scenario is that we eventually would do better to check hundreds of Ehrenblatt / Anerkennungsurkunde cases again. Shouldn't be bad to have a fundamental clarifiying first about those awards.
btw., this is a posthumous award (presentation) of the "Spange" ; KIA 1943, clasp instituted 1944.
According to the regulations as far as I have understood them, those men who received the "Anerkennungsurkunde des Oberbefehlshabers des Heeres" (later Führer/Hitler), but were NOT named in the "Ehrenblatt des Deutschen Heeres", did not receive the Ehrenblattspange.
Whereas the other variation is, that those men named in the "Ehrenblatt" and additionally received the "Anerkennungsurkunde", recieved the clasp of course.
On base of that :
Josef Schmidt must have been named in the "Ehrenblatt" once.
If it helps I could post two cases where the situation is somewhat confusing, too.
The kind of difficulty in understanding might be based and connected also to the available information provided in the secondary literature. (!?)

Re: Awardholders / unit
Fine, I will add the EBS then, thanks !
Maybe we can come back on this aspect again at a later time, especially if cases arise with a potentially incomplete or wrong listing.
