Re: 4. Pz.Div DKiG/DKiS/NKiG
I have a Death Card for a Guido Janik an Oberleutnant und Kompanie-Chef in einem Panzerjager-Regiment. It states he was the holder of the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class along with 4 other awards. I have found him on the Volksbund Grave Registry and it has him listed as a Hauptmann. He died 16 September 1944. I am wondering if it is possible to be the same Guido Janik that earned the German Cross in Gold from this unit? The major problem is that he died before the award was dated. Is it possible that they awarded the German Cross in Gold posthumously along with promoting him to Hauptmann?

Re: Awardholders / unit
Hello to all
; more: Rudolf Bärthel, May 18th, 1910 (Jahnsbach/Saxony, Germany).
DKiG awarded as Leutnant and Kompanieführer, 10. Kompanie, III. Bataillon, Infanterie-Regiment 271 on January 6th, 1942.
As per de source, the regiment (IR 271) was deployed at the front at the turn of the year as part of the 93rd Infantry Division in the siege of Leningrad, where Bärthel was decorated with the German Cross in Gold. During a front-line operation, he was killed by a direct bunker hit (date?).
