Re: additions and corrections for 6. and 19. Panzer-Division

Shawn, thanks for Dörr re-check !

Add & corr for 6. and 19. PD is in work. Let's make a choice about the below matter, please :
Jan-Hendrik wrote:6. PD :

Bäke is listed as swords holder Pz.Rgt 11 by V.S.

But regarding this discussion it would be more practical ro "run" sPzRgt. Bäke as an extension to 6th PD's list seperatly. Opinions? Jan-Hendrik
If I'm correct, Jeff made his statement already to cross Bäke out from the 6. PD list (?)
Jan-Hendrik, right understanding to cross him out and make a note / supplement at the end of the 6. PD KC list ?
I tend to this solution ; having him listed with the unit of his "Waffentat" = s.Pz.Rgt Bäke on [page 20]

regards, Bernd

Yes, indeed ! That would be the most pratical/logical solution to keep the lists "straigth".

While researching the 116. Panzer-Division in Scheibert, I found these award holders that should be counted with the 16. Infanterie / Panzergrenadier-Division (page 47).

Best regards,
Shawn

German Cross in Gold
Fröhling, Dipl.Ing. Walter, 28.02.1942, Hptm. d.R., 3./Pi.Btl. 675 (mot)
Stahn, Kurt, 24.03.1943, Oblt., 3./Pi.Btl. 675 (mot)
Weißflog, Joachim, 28.04.1944, Lt., 2./Pz.Abt. 116 (Note: Based on the unit designation, I believe this is a late award of the 16. Pz.Gren.Div., not a 116. Pz.Div. award.)

Here are the recipients of the German Cross in Gold/Silver and Close Combat Clasp in Gold who received their awards while assigned to the 116. Panzer-Division.

As always, additions/corrections would be most appreciated!

Best regards,
Shawn

done all this according to the recent discussions and re-checks.
Including the origin Bäke hint by Jeff. Thanks, all ! :D
6. Pz.Div KC list with note on Bäke [page 8] , other major awards [page 31] ; s.Pz.Rgt Bäke [page 20]
19. Pz.Div KC list [page 9] , other major awards [page 35] ; 19. Inf.Div seperately [page 9]

RE : 321. , 323. and 333. Inf.Div lists on [page 58] with Div.Grp issues

Is there an award date for DKiG recipient Hintzsche, Shawn ?

Thanks and regards

additions

12. Panzer-Division KC list [page 8]
Schlang, Wilhelm 22.08.1943 Feldwebel Zugführer i. d. 2./Pz.Jäg.Abt 2

Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Division 2 „HG“ KC list [page 27]
Richter, Hans-Heinrich 26.03.1945 Hauptmann Kdr Fsch-Pz.Aufkl.Abt 2 „HG“
[NKiG : 00.12.1944 Hauptmann Kp.Fhr im Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 16 (Ost)]

listed in accordance with Scherzer and Fellgiebel ;
This recipients KC is a variant showing nearly all aspects which we can see concerning the question wether the award is confirmed or questionable :
No proof in Bundesarchiv – Scherzer is listing him, taking over the entry by Fellgiebel, because it was impossible to find any sources which would allow a 100% Yes or No. It is to notice that most of the “HG” recipients with award date 26.03.1945 are confirmed by sources beyond the official BA files (?) Anyone who knows more about Richter ?
And, remarkable : Richter is obviously not mentioned in any work Shawn is citing for his compilation of “HG” KC holders on [page 20] -> Bender, Kurowski, Otte ! ?

added Hintzsche date, thanks Shawn

added KC lists Festung Brest and Festung Breslau [page 56]

RE : 98. Inf.Div : added DKiG recipient Hofmann, Karl , Gren.Lehr-Rgt 117

RE : 385. and 387. Inf.Div [page 58]
handled ; as stated already by Shawn the "transfering aroung" here is a bit complicated ; see notes there
While researching the award holders of the 387. Inf.Div.. I came across this German Cross in Gold holder with a very late award date:

Neuenhaus, Friedrich-Peter, 31.01.1945, Hptm., III./Gren.Rgt. 542

I presume this soldier should be counted under the 258. Inf.Div. Any thoughts on this issue would be much appreciated!

Best regards,
Shawn
RE : hm, we need a proof here ; preliminary listed with 258. Inf.Div [page 46], marked red
387. ID was disbanded on 13.03.1944 and the remnants were incorporated into 258. ID ;
III./GR 542 is a unusual Btl as part of Rgt.Grp due to most of the 3rd btls have been dissolved before ; so, it could be a very late award for GR 542 / 387. ID , too (?)
To the 258. ID list we added a NKiG recipient with a jan 1945 award ; note in brackets : "Auffangstab Königsbrück" -> any connection / the same for Neuenhaus ?

RE : 16. Pz.Gren.Div additions [pages 58 , 59]
added to the lists on [page 47]

RE : 4. and 6. Feld-Div (L) additions [page 58]
Thanks, Jan-Hendrik for starting to complete this section !
12. and 21. Div lists shifted from [page 17] ; all on [page 18] now !
Full match for KCs ; DKiG and EBS recipients added.

Thanks and regards
Bernd

This supplement [page 22] to 1.Skijäger-Div/Brig is nearly done in the meantime. See notes above where these recipients are listed.

I have added Ski-Bataillon Schlebrügge / Heerestruppe to the Ski lists on [page 11]

Riechert, Ski-Btl 157 is still open. No confirmation found for 57. Inf.Div.
Another possibility : 157. Reserve-Division, transfered to the French Alps, Grenoble, Gap, Aix-le-Bains region.
Another fine research issue of the few which are open

So Gauglitz is now definitely confirmed as Pz.Rgt.33 KC-holder?

Marko wrote back in september 2006 :
...Another such case from our list is Gauglitz from Pz.Rgt.23. Listed by das-ritterkreuz as Fhr. III./Pz.Rgt.33 but in Federl as Fhr. III./Pz.Rgt.23/9.Pz.Div. Obviously the latter doesn't go together. Further checking up in the 23.Pz.Div.'s history confirms that his KC actions occurred while leading III./Pz.Rgt.23 on 23.2.1943. Furthermore he was in December 1944 Kdr. Stu.Pz.Abt.217, which was subordinated to 9.Pz.Div. so this explains the discrepancy (III./Pz.Rgt.23/9.Pz.Div.)...
Additional pieces from my side :
KC : 16.11.1944 Oberleutnant Führer III./Pz.Rgt 33 [Scherzer, 1st edition, page 305]
is it according to the 23. Divs history : KC action in feb 1943 and award nov 1944 ?

in addition Scherzer is giving the German Cross in Gold date : 30.12.1944
DKiG according to ww2.awards.com : Olt Sturm-Panzer.Abt 211 -> this must be a typo

Is it Sturm-Pz.Abt 217, which was attached as III./Pz.Rgt 33 / 9. Pz.Div ?
This would make the (official) KC files "III./Pz.Rgt 33" understandable (?)

These dates are killing me - another typo!! It should be 23.02.1944 (not 1943). But, yes the divisional history claims he received the KC for his actions on that day, while leading the 3rd battalion. Incidentally it lists him in the recipient list as having received it on 25.01.1944, though probably also a typo as he is listed after Eisermann (23.12.1944) and before Kleemann (11.01.1945).

Could very well be. The awarding of the DKiG is according to the CD-Rom of - Die Ordensträger der Deutschen Wehrmacht. By now I have found out that this source is not the most accurate one. On the website http://www.ww2awards.com it is still not checked with other sources. That is a process that is now being done for all DKiG recipients that came from the mentioned source.
So any secure information on that would be welcome here.

In Das Deutsches Kreuz 1941-1945 by Patzwall and Scherzer, the unit is mentioned as Sturm-Panzer.Abt 217, so that would be the most likely one I guess.
