Heinrich Neumann,Oberstabsarzt Rgts-Arzt LL-Sturm.Rgt 1
Joined Reichswehr in 1933.Transferred to Luftwaffe in 1934 and graduated as medical doctor from Munich University.Joined FJs in 1939.Took part in actions in Poland and Holland.After the commander of I/ LL-Sturm.Rgt 1,Koch,was wounded at Maleme,Neumann took over command and stormed Hill 107.This vital position being captured ensured the success of the Maleme,and hence the total Crete operation.Awarded the KC.Later served in Russia,was 6FJD Divisional medical officer in 1944,followed by position as II Fsch.Jäg Korps medical officer until the end of the war.

Rudolf Toschka,Oberleutnant 1./LL-Sturm.Rgt 1
Joined General Göring Regiment 1935.Transferred to FJ 1938.Fought in Belgium,Holland,then Crete.Badly wounded successfully wiping out an AA position Maleme.Awarded KC.Then saw action in Russia in 1942.Killed at Anzio February 1944.

Hi Peter H

Do you know the rank of Karl Stephan Tannert on the 9. april 1940?
Is he still alive?

Hi bakof

He was a Oberleutnant at that time.I can find no record of him being deceased so if he's still around he would be 97.

Tannert jumped with his Zug at Masnedø,then jumped into Holland at Dordrecht,awarded there the EK1.Then jumped into Narvik as part of the relief force.A busy man. :)

Knight's Cross-14th June 1941
Oakleaves--17th September 1944

1937 General Göring Regiment.Joined FJR1 1938...Hauptmann 1940.."on April 9 1940 he led the forces which successfully took possession of Storstmann Bridge..Denmark".Then jumped into Holland and awarded EK1.Commanded IV./Fsch.Jäg.Sturm.Rgt 1,Crete 1941..."on his own intiative launched an attack in direction of Chania."Awarded KC.Lead Monte Rotondo operation in Italy 1943.Commanded Kampfgruppe Gericke,then FJR11 at Anzio 1944.Promoted Oberst 1945,11 FJD commander.

According to Scherzer, Tannert was still alive in 2006.

Alfred Genz,Oberleutnant Chef 1./Fsch.Jäg.Sturm.Rgt 1
Joined General Göring Regiment 1935.Served Poland,Crete.Awarded KC for his "distinguished" actions at Crete.Later saw action in Russia,Tunisia with FJR5.Commanded III/FJR12 1943-1944.Promoted to Major in April 1945 and took over command of FJR29.Captured by Soviets,released 1949.

Erich Schuster,Feldwebel Gruppenführer 3./LL-Sturm.Rgt 1
Joined FJ 1938.Member of Sturmabteilung-Koch,Sturmgruppe Stahl,May 1940.Landed by Glider,Maleme 1941.Took over his Zug after his commander Arpke was wounded,and "eliminated a flak battery".Awarded KC for his actions at Crete.Served Russia 1942.As Leutnant with FJR5,killed in action January 1943,Hill 311,Russia.

Wilhelm Kempke,Feldwebel Gruppenführer. 1./LL-Sturm.Rgt 1
Joined FJ 1938.As a member of Sturmabteilung-Koch took part in Eban Emael assault.On Crete eliminated a heavy AA battery.Awarded KC.Served in Russia 1942-1943.Joined glider/para component of KG 200 in 1943.Killed in an airplane crash December 1944.

Kroh,Kempke,Schuster receive their KCs 1941.
