Awards (OL, Sw. & Diam.) personally bestowed by Hitler
Hi again
In the list, I mentioned this ceremony :
20/01/44, Wolfsschanze
14 LW officers receive their Schwertern grosse urkunden (sorted by alphabetical order)
- Heinrich Bär
- Werner Baumbach
- Alfred Druschel
- Adolf Galland
- Gordon Gollob
- Hermann Graf
- Joachim Helbig
- Herbert Ihlefeld
- Helmut Lent
- Günther Lützow
- Walter Nowotny
- Walter Oesau
- Dietrich Peltz
- Wolf-Dieter Wilcke
I need to check if Galland was there to recieve his documents or just to attend to the ceremony to present the pilots to AH.
Anyway, here are 2 photos :
The first one shows Galland shaking hands with AH. On the row, waiting for their own documents, we find from left to right :
- Dietrich Peltz
- Günther Lützow
- Wolf Dieter Wilcke
- Walter Oesau
More to come...

This second photo was found on the site
http://www.finearts-autographs.com
thanks to member jertzy who provided the nice pic of the Priller ceremony.
This is in my opinion, another pic coming from the very same ceremony as of 20/01/1944.
Here you find :
- Hermann Graf
- Werner Baumbach
- Heinz Bär (to confirm)
- x hidden
- Günther Rall
This last one was not included in my original list so we have consequently 14 officers (not included Galland who was there maybe as General der Jagdflieger or as the first Schwerternträger).
So we have :
From left to right :
- Adolf Galland
- Dietrich Peltz
- Günther Lützow
- Wolf Dieter Wilcke
- Walter Oesau
Then maybe one or several persons, we cannot say for sure until a new photo reaches us, then :
- Hermann Graf
- Werner Baumbach
- Heinz Bär (to confirm)
- x
- Günther Rall
Then maybe one or several persons, we cannot say for sure until a new photo reaches us
The other soldiers not still located in this row are :
Alfred Druschel
Gordon Gollob
Joachim Helbig
Herbert Ihlefeld
Helmut Lent
Walter Nowotny

Hi again
This photo (unfortunately a close up) is also connected to the same ceremony. You can see Gordon Gollob (in the row) and wearing 2 Arm Schields (a rather rare combo). Can anybody see who is the next guy ??

Nice photo. I would need to check but it is difficult to say. From gut feelings, I would say EL and/or Schwertern due to the short range of time between the 2 bestowal dates.
Thanks
Denis
bake, I have seen your comment about the Obersalzberg ceremony dated (in my list) 04/04/44. In fact, I have just based this date on Oberstab's information (see quote below) after his discussion with Freiherr (page 10 of the thread).bake wrote:Update for Denis:
24/04/44 ( not 04/04/44/, Location Berghof
LW Ceremony
From this post
I am ready to change dates but who's right, who's wrong ??Oberstab wrote:Hallo dear freiherr,
I found different dates for this event, most of them indeed confirming the 04.04.44.
BTW:
farest left is Werner Streib,
second from right: his name is Dr. Otte.
I know another pic (but I ould' t find this) from the Berghogf-terace showing Erich Walther and Barkhorn with most of the others.
Consequently this problem is also cleared now !!
Cheers
Oberstab
Oberstab, can you help us ?
Thanks in advance
Denis
Regarding the pic of the 2 WH generals : bake, PM me your email so that I can send it to you. I am afraid not being able to post it there.
Another one which is very well known but still not provided in this thread :
01/01/1945, FHQ (don't remember the exact location though but I believe it was on the Western front)
Obst Hans-Ulrich Rudel is awarded the Golden Oakleaves with Diamonds (first and unique recipient).
The top guns were present : we can see from left ro right :
Ribbentrop, Rudel, Fegelein (background), Jodl, AH, Keitel, unknown officer (background), HG, Dönitz and Guderian (as far as I can see).
