-Erich Hartmann was awarded the Swords personally by Hitler: 24-07-1944.

The first I thought was Dönitz als Kapitän zur See at the begin of the war (1939), too.

Sorry for my long absence on this thread.
Nice interestiong elements. Thanks to all members who continue to make this thread live.
Have you noticed that Gen.Lt. Lieb, althoiugh he was awarded the OL on the same day than Gille and Degrelle's awards is not present in Gille-Degrelle ceremony. I believe there were 2 distinct ceremonies even if we can see photos showing both 3 men after the bestowal process.

Topp and Suhren was awarded the Schwerter in another ceremony ( see pictures)
