Re: Generaladmiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg
To whom it my concern,
I live in Lüneburg Germany near a house that was used by General Dempsey and Field Marshal Montgomery during the surrender of the North West German forces at the end of WW2. The house is the Alexander Mollering house or Villa. There is a land developer wanting to distroy the house and trying to have the historical protection removed. They are saying that nothing important happened in the house and that the historical protection should be removed. I'm part of a group of people trying to save the villa, Much damage has already been done. What we need is some document like General Dempsey's military journal with accounts of what happened on May the 3rd and 4th of 1945.
We know that the German delagation arrived at the villa around 8:00am the 3rd of May and was later taken to meet Montgomery at his tent on the hill. We have photos of seven Germans arriving at the villa but only four leaving to meet Montgomery. So I'm assuming the others wear kept at the villa for some reason. We are trying to save this piece of German and British military history. Please help us if you can.

Re: Generaladmiral Hans-Georg von Friedeburg
What is the last ribbon on Friedeburg's ribbon bar? It seems he covered it with a black patch. Could it be an Italian award? I have seen a case of covering an Italian ribbon with a black patch after the capitulation of Italy on the ribbon bar of Vizeadmiral Joachim Lietzmann (he covered his Order of the Crown of Italy).
