Vinzenz Müller and XXVII Korps

#1

Post by Richard Murphy » 21 Jul 2002, 22:37

According to RK.de, Müller won his Knight Cross whilst acting CO of XXVII Korps in April '44, but the listings here give his dates at the Korps as 21-26/10/44, by which time he was a Soviet PoW!

Can some one tell me the correct dates of this, and any other commands he held prior to XII Korps and 4th Armee?

Regards from the Park,

Rich

Hello Richard.
Murky business we have here;
Mehner lists his command of XXVII.A.K. from 21.Oct.1943 - 26.Oct.1943.
His R.K.award lists that command as the one he had when recommended for it. Seems strange with such short duration command. His command of XII.A.K. is listed as of 4.Jun.1944 - 5.Jun. 1944 !
He is listed there as in command of Korps Abt. D 15.Nov.1943 - 10Jun.1944..
-Keilig lists prior commands/assignments as:
-Ia Hgr.C to Dec.1940 then CoS 17.Armee (German Cross i.Gold there on 26>Jan.1942 as Oberst i.G. , commander of 56.I.D. as of Sep.1943. Other commands as in Mehner.
Was in service with East German Forces after the war and died 12.May 1961.

Thanks Bernhard,

From a previous posting (About Arno von Lenski, I believe.) I found that he was C. in C. of the East German Army until von Lenski took over in 1949, having been released remarkably early (1948), by Soviet standards.

Regards from the Park,

Rich
