Pictures of DKiG winners...

#1

Post by Timo » 27 Jul 2002, 22:02

Hallo everybody,

I am looking for portraits of other wartime pics of DKiG winners of (obviously) SS-Pz.AA1:

Friedrich Bügelsack
Erich Olboeter
Fritz Reuß
Erich Windisch

I have pics of the other DKiG winners of this unit, but I am intersted in any of them too (as they might be new to me), especially Gernt, Leidreiter and Gilbert.

I am NOT looking for originals. A scan will do just fine :)

Any help is very much appreciated.

Regards,
Timo

There's a photo of of Olboeter w/ Wilhelm Weidenhaupt in Marc Rikmenspoel's photo book. Marc ID'd that guy as Olboeter... Anyway, Olboeter is a Ostuf. in the pic. I have an unpublished picture of Olboeter taken on the same day that shows his collar tabs.

Thanks Frank. Are these pics from his time with SS AA 1?

I'm not even 100% sure its Olboeter! Marc Rikmenspoel ID'd the pic in his book as Olboeter. If it is (and it probably is) then it's while he was Chef 15./LAH I have tons of pics of AA 1 - Bremer and Meyer especially. Some of that stuff has been published before - like in Meyer's Grenadiers - but others from the same series have not.

Olboeter wears the collar of a Sturmbannführer (Major)

4 squares Ostuf is 3 squares and 2 bars

Thanks Georges, but it's not the photo posted above we're discussing.

Skrable, can you point out some of the the files in NARA that contain SS AA 1 and/or 15.(Krad) photos?

My notes re. the NARA photo collection are a complete mess. Frankly I can't make heads or tails of what I had written down years ago. They're a complete enigma to me. Now I have all of these pics in hard copy.

Captured German photos are in record group 242. There's tons of Roth pics, as you know he spent allot of time w/AA 1 in Greece and Russia until being wounded w/that unit in the summer of 41. I have notes here like Roth 75 24 & 25 for Olboeter. 75 is probably the roll number and 24, 25 are the negatives/prints on the roll. For Kurt Meyer:
242-SS-8-63-6
242-SS-8-5 8 through 16
96 7, 8, 9

I have no clue what pics those are. I've been to NARA allot and copied almost everything. When / if you do a book let me know and all photo's that you need I will send. Just mention me somewhere.

Thanks for the info and for the offer! I guess it's difficult to get from these files just the interesting stuff without actually visiting the place :(

Regards,
Timo
