I am considering making a third reich "aces" page (considering is the key word). I was wondering where I could find info on "aces" (fighters, U-Boats, tanks, whatever...)

I would suggest 'Panzer Aces', 'Panzer Aces 2', 'Infantry Aces' as well as the series by Osprey about the Luftwaffe...

Wel, ABR and ritterkreuztrager.de are also good sources - but it would be nice still to have a web with all the aces in one place...

For Luftwaffe aces, is consideration being given to name and give bio's of the top 100 aces or down to scores of 5 and more ? Whatever you do it will be a massive undertaking. maybe not for just listing names but including bios on these men. I have found the ritterkreuz seite to be awfully slow and does not have more than 3 dozen bios.

The best book to look up the fighter aces scores is:
Fighter Aces of The Luftwaffe
By Col. Raymond Toliver and Trevor Constable

The German aces scores hold up very well when doing the research on the allied side losses. Just look into Marseille kills in North Africa, when you research the British losses day by day his score holds up to that research.

On the tank aces of the war there will be a good book on the 502 heavy tank battalion coming out sometime in the next two years, which will help in tracking down the kill numbers of all the great tank aces of that unit. Right now I can pin down 100 kills for Otto and about 135 for Hans from that unit, but with new imformation these numbers could go up.

The scores of the tank aces are much harder to research and to confrim the kills. The Russian acrhives were just open to the west in the last 12 years, and in that time the resecarchers have found a great deal of imformation that will take a number of years to publish.

Look at the battle of Stalingrad there is a number of surprises still to be published on this battle.

he was in the E. front for a period in 1944.

he shot down 6.5 planes in 1945. four of them were US bombers, while the res were fighters.
