Information on General Heinrich Anton Deboi

#1

Post by The Desert Fox » 10 Aug 2002, 11:43

I am interested in finding out more information on General Heinrich Anton Deboi, Commander of the 44th Infrantry Division captured at Stalingrad. He was awarded the Knights Cross in September 1942.

I am interested in his career as I discovered we share a birthday. I read his bio at a Stalindgrad website which revealed he died in captivity. A picture of his grave is shown. However other sources I have checked out he says he was released by the russians. Anyone out their know anything about him?

regards
simon.

Here is a very incomplete biographical sketch of the Herr Generalleutnant. The indefatigable and highly knowledgeable Shawn Bohannon can no doubt fill in any gaps here.

My sources include Wolf Keilig's "Die Generale des Heeres 1939 - 1945" and Franz Thomas / Günter Wegmann's "Die Ritterkreuzträger der Infanterie", Band 4.

Best wishes,
