Hello,

here's a small episode from Harald Momm's early career I'd like to share with you as told by Frhr. v. Wolff-Metternich (1990).
According to Wolff-Metternich then Lt. Momm belonged to Husaren-Regiment 8 in Paderborn on Apr 24th, 1919.

On that day a gang of armed poachers 15 to 20 men strong staged a siege of the manor Schloss Erpernburg about 20 km SW of Paderborn. Previously one of the poachers had been shot and wounded by a forrester who then fled to Erpernburg manor pursued by his opponent's infuriated companions. The daughter of the manor's owner who was administering the estate that day phoned her husband Rittmeister Joseph von Wolff-Metternich in the Paderborn garrison and called for help. Wolff-Metternich raced to Erpernburg with two horse-drawn machinegun carts manned by a squad of officers, Harald Momm amongst them. The machineguns - cocked openly in front of the manor - scared away the poachers but the squad kept guard on the estate for several days to protect agains a later return of the posse.
