Generalleutnant Rudolf Pilz (1888-1975)

Hallo,

I'm searching for the commander of IR 121(50. ID) in Poland in 1939! His name was Oberst Pilz but I don't have any hint for his first name!

My question is now if the later GenLt. Rudolf Pilz is that person???

Since 10. March 1940 he was commander of 358. ID, then since 15. November 1940 commander of 333. ID and between 1. January 1943 and 19. August 1944 commander of 203. SichDiv.

His promotion to GenLt. is dated 1. February 1942 and with this aspect it could be the same person...

I hope you are able to help me

Regards

Hannes

Rudolf Pilz is your man. Wolf Keilig in 'Die Generale des Heeres' shows him in command of I.R. 121 at the start of the war.

Hallo Ken McCanliss,

are you able to post the further information about him mayout from the book of Keilig!

I only have the information I've wrote and his birthday...

What further infos are in the Keilig? Maybe you can post the page out of the book?

Thanks to you at first

In regards to "Kommandeur 425. Division zbV", evidently this posting was cancelled. I have Gen. Erich von Keiser commanding it from 25-10-39 to 1-6-40 (Bradley) when it was downgraded to Ersatztruppen 100 (Tessin). Or could Gen. Pilz have simultaneously been in command of 425. Division while serving as OFK 540? Division 425 according to Tessin was formed in the East. That doesn't explain Gen. Keiser's assignment though. Anyone?

Best,
Bill in Cleveland
