Generalleutnant Robert Meißner

Post by FlorianBerger » 09 Nov 2004 22:34

Hallo,

I am searching for informations about this General, 1942/43 commander of the 68. Infanteriedivision. I even know a view points of his life before 1942, but nothing after 1943.
A photo would be great, too.

regards,
Flo

Hi Florian!

Here's a small pic of Meissner. It turns out that he is also included in the Hoffmann KC holder series, but I've never seen his pic advertised, other than this small offering.

Regards,

VJK

Hello
Valdis, the pic you have posted was piblished by Film Foto Verlag which was a competitor of the Hoffmann company.
This very same card is numbered R319. As far as I know, there is no Hoffmann card which depicts Robert Meissner in the R sery.

Denis

Hi Denis!

Thanks for putting me straight -I just assumed it was a Hoffmann card without looking into it further. Either way, it still seems to be a very rare find!

Best regards,

VJ

I have come across a reference from an English translation of a 1939 German-language document regarding "Captain Meissner - Abwehr."

Could this be Gen.Lt. Meissner?

Generalleutnant Robert Meissner (1888-1953)

Post by askropp » 21 May 2017 23:21

24.11.1940 KVK II mit Schwertern
22.01.1942 EK II
19.03.1942 Ostmedaille
27.03.1942 EK I
24.05.1943 RK

And look at these two photos from the Generalskartei:

Not only the Ritterkreuz seems to be added later, apparently someone used a pen on the right picture to give the balded Meissner some hair and a moustache, making him look like Kaiser Wilhelm or even Hitler!
