Bake, how many times do I have to tell you to not upload images that are already online? Stop doing that. Use the img-button function instead.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry, no first name for Zobel. According to the reference mentioned above, Zobel and Dr. Bäke both destroyed 2 tanks each, obviously Bäke got credited for one more, which was more probably destroyed by a regimental panzer.
I actually mean Rshvets
Don't rely to much on Kurowski.

cheers

There should have been a "Vorschlag" for Dr. Bäke to receive even the Brilliants , but it was reject by OB of HGr. Oberrhein , Heinrich Himmler . Does anybody know what had happened ?

The promise for the Brilliants is mentioned in a Nachruf for Dr. Bäke by the TG of Pz.Brig. 106 .

Again the question: do we have any primary sources on Bäke's promotion to GM? The division card of 13. PzDiv is missing in T-78 R-896.

Thanks, John! I didn't consider the renaming.

Hello to all :D; a complement.....................................

Franz Bäke (28 February 1898 – 12 December 1978).

He was a German officer and tank commander during World War II. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, one of only 160 German military men to be so decorated. During World War II, Bäke participated in over 400 tank combat missions, 13 of which resulted in the destruction of his tank. He was wounded seven times in combat. In January 1944, Bäke commanded his regiment during the battles for the Balabonovka pocket. Bäke single-handedly destroyed three Soviet tanks during the battle with infantry weapons at close range, for which he received three Tank Destruction Badges.
