I have a doubt...which is the date for the medal? 27.04. or 30.04.1943?. By the way, this pic killing me. It is so great!!! 8O 8O 8O Rechel receiving the Silver Medal by the King of Italy (June, 1943).

Very nice one indeed, thanks for sharing. :D The date depends on the source where it comes from. It's difficult to catch (accurate) Italian sources I think.

Bernd,

One more. Oberst (Generalmajor) Gerhrad MÜLLER is displaying the Italian Army Silver Bravery Medal (Medaglia d’Argento al Valore Militare) in his buttonhole.

Interesting one. He would have gotten that for his command of KGr. Fla-Btl. 606 which he commanded during CRUSADER.

Good thread.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

Perhaps someone can help me out to determine which "Medaglia al Valore Militare" was awarded to LTC Georg Briel, Afrika Corps Commander. There seems to be two styles of this award, One with a Star in the center, the other with a Cross in the center. Which one of these would have been awarded to Briel during World War 2? I've been given different opinions on this particular award. Thanks. Karl, Bristow, VA
