Oberst Gordon Gollob

Post by ritterpanzer » 14 Dec 2005 12:55

Hello,

Was injured in combat Gollob during the war? In these pictures appears to be wearing the wound medal (class?), but I have not found nothing in different books.

Regards,

Pedro.

In these pictures Gollob has in your arm 2 shields, one likes the Narvik shield, and the other ??
Anyone can recognize ??

Another question on Gollob...

Hello adalberto!
The second shield is the Krimshield or the Kubanshield. I think it is the Krimshield.

Does anyone know if Gollob held rank in the NSFK? I have a vague memory of reading that he was an NSFK-Standartenführer. On a side note, Adolf Galland was an NSFK-Gruppenführer, Bruno Loerzer an NSFK-Obergruppenführer, and Willy Messerschmitt an NSFK-Brigadefuhrer.

With thanks in advance,
~ Mike

Mike:

Gordon Gollob is my specialty when it comes to the military aspect of the Reich. I have seen references that state he was given the NSFK rank of Gruppenführer on January 30, 1945. This would be about the same time that his promotion to General of the fightrers took effect.

I have many unpublished photos of Gollob. I also the hand the chance to physically hold his presentation diamonds and try on his dress helmet -- the same one he wore at Udet's funeral. A thrill to see these items first hand.

Hello Gentlemen,
In this picture (from NAC) of Gollob receiving your KC with Diamonds in 1942 from Hitler, below your right pocket, there is some kind of decoration? DKiG maybe ? I don´t read in any source that Gollob received this decoration.
another question, anyone knows the ribbon bar of Gollob ? only EK2 ?
Cheers

Narvikschild and Krimschild is correct !

BTW his second prename - see http://www.adlertag.de/asse/gollob.htm

Hauptmann Gordon Gollob receiving the oakleaves.(Is visible the referred badge) I think is his Austrian Pilot Badge .
Is strange that Gollob (Hightly decorated with diamonds) not was awarded with any DK.

hi,
no way for him to receive DK in gold : he simply was too fast, got his KC 18.9.41, Oakl after another 43 kills in just little more than 1 month later on 26.10. whereby the first DK was awarded 15.10.41 = about 1 month after Gollob received the KC.

his sleeve : 2nd shield is Krim, if you like you buy this jacket awas the award document in a couple of monts, it will be for sale in Hermann's April auction together with most of his other dox incl diamonds doc. better start saving....
