I wonder how he ended up back in Hamburg as he was in Karlsbad as late as March 1945.
He probably didn't. According to Staatsarchiv Hamburg, he committed suicide on 11.05.1945 in Karlsbad (to quote the archival description: "Am 11.05.1945 in Karlsbad verstorben. Suizid"). Some years after (probably in 1949) a Todeserklärung was issued by the Amtsgericht Altona. The fact that the description of this archival item states "Enthält u.a.: Schüsseler, geb. Schubert, Alexandra, geb. 03.11.1884.- Schüsseler, Jutta, geb. 08.04.1909" gives the impression that the family committed collective suicide, as Albert wrote.

Also in this doc. of may 39 he is correctly listed as "char.", thus disproving my previous doc of july 39
So once again Askropp was right on the whole line in his explanation above......
P.S.: If I well understood he had no army assignment in WW 2, in the SS only, right ?
Also, I guess that Schüssler is correct although in some lists I found Schüßler too, right ?
