KC-Holder Rolf Fromme
I need your help again , dear friends
What I have so far about him :
* 05.09.1914 Hannover
+ 29.06.1992 Bad Pyrmont
RK Fhr. 3./Pz.Rgt. 1 29.09.1941
As Graf Kageneck was severly wounded Fromme took over the sPzAbt. 503 between 02.44 - 12.44
On 16.4.45 he took over the command of sPzJgAbt.653
And for 1962 I found an Oberstleutnant Fromme as Kdr. of "Truppenübungsplatz Heuberg" ...
Woho could provide corrections and/or additions ? And maybe a better wartime pic than the one at. http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de ? I found some pictures of Fromme showing him at veterans meetings of 503 , but thats all from the 60s and 70s

Possible that he was Kdr. of PzAbt. "Stahnsdorf 1" before he took over sPzJgAbt. 653 ?

And he even didn't tell me that he added Fromme already on his site ...

Re: KC-Holder Rolf Fromme
per HANS
Leutnant 01.04.37 FROMME, Rolf (Pz.Rgt. 2) Major
Jan-Hendrik
Leutnant 01.04.37 FROMME, Rolf (Pz.Rgt. 2) Major
Jan-Hendrik
Major Rolf Fromme (1914-1992)
xx.xx.193x Leutnant mit RDA vom 01.04.1937 (1521pp)
in Stellenbesetzung of:
10.11.1938 in der 6. / Panzerregiment 2 (Eisenach)
Are you sure that this is the same person? The RKT Fromme was still a Leutnant in September 1941, this is virtually impossible for someone who was promoted to that rank in April 1937. The whole batch of Leutnante mit RDA vom 01.04.1937 (~1500) was promoted to Oberleutnant on 01.10.1939, but the Fromme from PzRgt 2 is conspicuously missing in the 1940 DAL. He isn't listed under his old RDA as a Leutnant either. To me, it looks as if the pre-war Leutnant Fromme could have been killed in Poland. As there is no other Fromme in the 1938 DAL, is there any possibility that the later Tiger commander could have been a Reserveoffizier who was later aktiviert?

Re: KC-Holder Rolf Fromme
A very mysterious case ... I was not able to find any Fromme in the 1944 DAL, at least not among the Hauptleute and higher officers. But he is said to have been promoted to Oberleutnant in 1941, and was a Major in 1945. Where is he ???

Re: KC-Holder Rolf Fromme
it is the same Rolf Eduard Julius Fromme, born 05.09.1914 in Hannover:
Leutnant: 30.01.1938 (Rangdienstalter 01.04.1937 - 1521pp)
Oberleutnant: 01.09.1941 (Rangdienstalter 01.10.1939 - 257a)
Leutnant: 30.01.1938 (Rangdienstalter 01.04.1937 - 1521pp)
Oberleutnant: 01.09.1941 (Rangdienstalter 01.10.1939 - 257a)
Re: KC-Holder Rolf Fromme
Okay, so in fact he is in the 1942-1944 DAL. I must have overlooked him while scanning the myriads of Hauptleute.
30.01.1938 Leutnant mit RDA vom 01.04.1937 (1521pp)
18.11.1941 Oberleutnant mit RDA vom 01.10.1939 (257a)
01.04.1942 Hauptmann (1452)
But ... he is apparently NOT in the 1940 and 1941 DAL, although he was added in handwriting to the latter. Where was he? Why wasn't he promoted alongside his peers in 1939?
P.S. Wait ... does that read "von z.V."?
