SS and Police Units - Defense of Berlin?

#1

Post by stcamp » 25 Nov 2009, 18:34

I am doing some research for a project and, as usual, I got sidetracked. I am going through the DRK SS and Police Vermisstenbildliste. It is interesting for locations. For example: If a number of members of a battalion is listed as missing 4/45 Berlin than I make the assumption that it was combat losses. It not a 100% but it helps figure out where they were. Especially in 1945 were records get sketchy.

III. SS Sicherheitspolizei Btl. FPN 67451 - Looks like Bernau - Fürstenberg - Berlin. Yet that seems a little off geographically. SS Sicherheitspolizei Btl IV seems to follow the same route FPN 32676

Polizei-Bataillon 3 u. Pol. Ers. u. Ausb. Btl 3 Berlin-Spandau

the DRK dont list the place of their death, but the place from where the last post was sent, so I think these Berlin placed units, dont know if their in action in Berlin too

Vielen Dank, Uwe, ich wusste nicht, dass das DRK nach dem letzten bekannten Aufenthaltsort ihre Listen führte, jedoch logisch.
