Looking for records regarding 12 Komp, Inf Rrgt 471.
I understand this (my German is nil) to be the 12th Division, 471st Infantry Regiment.
I am trying to identify its location and actions on 8 January 1942. I am trying to provide a context for an individual KIA on that date.

IR.471 was part of 251.Infanterie-Division
In January 1942 this division was in the Rzhev area
Check in Archives section of the Forum which documents are available for this unit - but it's all in German.
If we become increasingly humble about how little we know, we may be more eager to search.

From a list of Germany Military Killed in Action list, it says the individual I am tracing was a member of 12 Komp.

12th company - heavy company in 3rd battalion of a regiment (you count from right to left)
