Das Reich in the Ardennes photos

#1

Post by Texas Jäger » 09 Jan 2021, 09:02

I don't think I've ever seen photographs or footage of 2nd SS during December 1944 -January 1945, all the photos of Waffen SS forces in the Ardennes seem to be from the 1st SS Panzer corps, especially LSSAH. Does anyone have photos they would like to share on this topic? Photos from 9th SS 'Hohenstaufen' during this period are also welcome and wanted.

,,Between densely growing pine trees in a snowed Ardennes forest, these SS panzer grenadiers of the 2. SS-Panzer-Division have built a wooden pillbox that offers some protection against the cold and the blizzards. There seems to be nothing wrong with the soldiers’ mood. The picture is probably taken during the relatively quiet period around the turn of the year, before Montgomery’s offensive started on 3 January 1945. (BArch, Bild 183-J28648/Rottensteiner)"

I love myself way more than I love you

And I think about killing myself

So, best believe, I thought about killing you today

,,Panther tanks of the 2. SS-Panzer-Division ‘Das Reich’ in the Ardennes. The German caption reads: ‘Our grenadiers are caught in a bitter fight with the Americans over a significant hill. To the sound of the battle alarm, Panther tanks are set in motion to join the battle.’ (BArch, Bild 183-J28646/SS-PK-Kriegsberichter Schulz)"
