Middle Army Group, Cavalry regiment

HI All,

My father was in the Cavalry regiment, Middle Army Group on the Eastern Front. They were a withdrawal specialist unit all troops were equipped with either MG 42 or MP 44s. His first engagement was outside Moscow and surrendered with the unit after winning an Iron Cross and being wounded three times. He was in multiple assaults by the Red Army.

I am trying to find out more information on his unit and were he was deployed. He rose to the dizzying heights of corporal but had some chilling stories. Any thing you guys can tell me about that unit or where to look would be wonderful.

Thanks.
