Fj Regt. von Hoffmann was the first name of FJR 18 (alt), of the 6. Fj Division (Kdr. Genltnt Plöcher).
thank you very much for sharing the Wehrpass, Luft 76 :D

think, first was Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 18 (therefore called "alt"), formed june 1944 at Amiens/
France ; formation process stopped / fighting in France.
source this very good Luftwaffe site :
http://www.ww2.dk/ground/fallschirm/fjr18.htm

parts of it must have been transported to Germany for training in Halberstadt.
Don't get it, how, who and why at the moment.

With the help of the Wehrpass, think we have confirmed two things now :

1) Btl "Kerutt" -> named Kampfgruppe Kerutt / later, as for 05.10.1944

2) arriving in the Netherlands on 05.09.1944
last entry -> "5.9.44 Operationsgebiet Holland"

regards, luchs

You are right : the 6. Fj. Division was formed and trained in Amiens area, in may-june 44, but only with two regiments : FjR 16 and FjR 21(last name of Fj Lehr Regt.). The FJR 16 was quicly sent to Eastern Front, so it's called FjR 16 (Ost). Only the FjR 21 stayed and fought in France in August - September 44. The FJR 18 was never constitued in France. The first parts arrived in Halberstadt in August and were named Fj. Rgt. Hoffmann.
I know the web site ww. 2dk, and it's very usefull. But the best informations about 6. Fj. Division are in the book of Heinz Bliss and Bernd Bosshamer, (former members of the division and Fj. Lehr Regt) : Das Fallschirmjäger - Lehr-Regiment. (1992). They explain the full history of F. Lehr Regt. in Italy and in France, with the creation and later, the fighting of the 6. Fj. Division in north France.
Bye.

I see, Luft 76, another clearing for the formation process
Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 18 (-alt-) -> Fsch.Jäg.Rgt "von Hoffmann".

Further look on heavy weapons of Kgr "Walther" / Btl "Kerutt", especially on 17.09.1944 :

Stug.Brig 280 most probably is out : -> Arnhem area, not in the South
http://www.defendingarnhem.com/Sturmges ... ade280.htm

There indeed seem to be some evidence of the presence of "10 assault guns" on
17.09.1944 at Joe's Bridge, when XXX. corps / Horrocks started operation "garden".

The difficult question is, if it have been Stugs of SS-Pz.Jäg.Abt 10 or of 3./s.Pz.Jäg.Abt
559. These then would have been assigned to Kgr "Walther" at this time.
discussed without clear result here :
