Major Burckhardt identified as standing behind Ludwig Crüwell.

Suggested timeframe is early 1942--Crüwell was captured by the British in May 1942.

Why the Fallsch Lehr-Bataillion travelled back and forth across the Med in Jan-July 1942 is a bit difficult to understand.

They were sent over as an emergency measure in the wake of the defeat in Cyrenaica suffered by the Axis in December, during CRUSADER. My guess is then that they were sent back when they were no longer needed, following the success at the Gazala stakes in June, and were considered to be too valuable an asset to squander as line infantry.

It was the 3. Kompanie Fallschirm-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1, Kp.führer Olt. Brückner that was attached to Kampfgruppe Burckhardt. It stays 'till 03.1942, then goes back to Schwering.

It was the 2. Kompanie Fallschirm-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1, Kp.führer Olt. Haseneder that was attached to Fallschirm-Jäger-Brigade Ramcke and most of its personal went POW at El Alamein november 1942. Olt. Haseneder included.
