You misunderstood me. You can ask, argue and learn what you want, a forum is created for this purpose.
"All tanks which were in use for the forming PzAbt were exchanged during Pz.Rgt. forming. The 3 pz.kompanie which you have seen on the parade later had renamed to 7 coy. because the PzAbt. has become the II./PzRgt".
If you didn't see photos that it doesn't mean that the company wasn't or it wasn't completed.
Look for it and you will find it...

I thank you all for this valuable information. Several years ago I interviewed a German veteran who was a SS-Sturmmann. (attack-man) He was assigned to the 3. SS-Wi-Btl. 1 LSSAH. Searching for information I found that the initials stand for: Wirtschafts-Bataillon 1 "LSSAH" He participated on the "Blitzkrieg" and told me a fascinating story. Later on he was captured during D-Day in Normandie and was POW in Ft. Lewis, USA.

All your comments here brought light to my puzzle. I am for ever thankful. Hope my small contribution is useful to you all, too.

Charles,

Photos of LAH 3rd Kompanie Panzer IV G's in Kharkov are very rare, I have one in my collection and know of one other (I missed out on the auction for that one). So in short, they were there, but camera shy!

Cheers

Thank you stoveb. I was theorizing that the 52 Pz IV in Jentz might be a full accounting, as the numbers worked for having 5 companies of 10 each and a single Pz IV in each battalion HQ. I have found in a post on this site, dating back some years, that an individual has come up with all the turret numbers, tank types, and arrival dates (not of each panzer, of course :)). His post showed a 3. Kp with 10 Pz IVGs. Just as important his post shows 60 Pz IVs arriving, therefore 6 companies of 10 each -- I just needed to do some more digging in this remarkable forum.
I was never insisting that no pictures meant no 3. Kp. I took umbridge at being called "inattentive." I try, and I believe it is important, to behave as a gentleman.
Thank you all for the information you have shared on this thread.

I am studiing documents SS-Pz.Kps., and I have found some reports on LAH units arrival in Kharkov area in the beginning of February 1943. In the report of February 9 was informed that in February 8 were arrived:
Stab SS-PzRgt. 1,
Stab and Stab companie I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 1, 1th., 2nd. companies and partly 4th.
Stab and partly Stab companie II./SS-Pz.Rgt. 1,
5, 6 and 7 companies.
Pz.Pi.companie and Werkstatt-comp.
No other reports was found about arriving of Pz.Rgt. units or tanks during February - particularly 3 pz.comp.
I thing LAH hasn't enough tanks to arm all their Pz.komp. and 3 Pz.Komp. didn't participated in winter battle near Kharkov.
According to the NARA T 313 R 364 LAH had 52 Pz IV. - 5 companies of 10 tanks each.
Look for it and you will find it...

Hi,

Interesting records, but maybe incomplete, as a lot of these files are. Here are some photos of LAH 3rd Kompanie Panzer IV at Kharkov;

In T354R118 written that DR had 66 PzIII 20 PzIV 10 PzII - without scw.pzkomp., Tk had 80 PzIII 20 PzIV 9 PzVI but LAH had only 48 PzIV 12 PzII 12 PzIII 24 PzBef. from the first days of arriving. LAH never reported more than 50 PzIV.
What is mean 24 PzBef.? - my opinion is: 2 PzBefw. III ( Sd.Kfz. 267 Fu 6 & Fu 8) & 1 PzBefw. III (Sd.Kfz. 268 Fu 6 & Fu 7) + 6 Sd.Kfz. 266 + 1 PzBefw. I(Sd.Kfz. 121) + 13 z.Fu.Wg.(Sd.Kfz. 261) + 1 z.Fu.Wg.(Sd.Kfz. 263).
At whole the ϟϟ-PzKorps has declared about losses of 68 tanks and 18 StuG for February and March. I try to establish how many had each division.
LAH had losses: total 6 PzIV + 4 damaged, 1 Pz Ia, 4 Marders + 2 damaged(sent to Germany or Dnepropetrovsk), 1 or 2 Tigers(not sure, it deepens how many Tigers LAH had 10 or 9), 1 PzIII + 2 damaged, 3 StuG, 1 PzII.
With StuGAbt. is also mystic - were reported that it had 35 StuG from arrival. After Battle it had 22 like in Soll. I think that 335 or 333 StuG battery was submitted to LAH?
Look for it and you will find it...
